There's been rumors for a while now that "The Matrix" trilogy filmmakers Andy and Lana Wachowski have been developing a secret sci-fi war movie and that they shot test footage with author/columnist Arianna Huffington and Jesse Ventura, but nobody was able to figure out what it was.

Now, Deadline New York reports that they are trying get financial backers for the project:

I'm told they are circulating a new script that brings them back to terrain they covered in 1996's Bound, a heist film with a lesbian romance. This one's a drama that focuses on a "hard R" homosexual relationship between a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi. It's a cinema verite-style treatment that begins in the near future and then spans back over years that include the current war in Iraq. I've heard the siblings completed the script, want to direct it next, and that it is out to financiers.

sounds crazy...

but Bound was an AMAZING film... if its anything like that and with sci-fi... this is gonna kick ass (even if it bombs).

they have yet to have failed me... i personally love every film they've made so far.

The Wachowski's are definitely thinking outside the box with this one. Count me in.

hard R gay relationship ??????????????????????????????

no thank you

So its an Iraq war movie with an inter-racial "hard R" homosexual relationship. Finding financing and distribution will be piece of cake.

Hard R homosexual relationship between a us soldier and an iraqi? wtf...

When I read the title i was thinking something like the terminator future war scenes till i read that..

sounds....different and somewhat original.

Now I'm just curious as the to Sci Fi aspect of it.

ever since one of the brothers turned themselves into a He/She there movies have gotten progressively worse:dry:

i wonder if a hard R gay scifi movie has something to do with the brother?

not interested. Thx.

I know many did not like the matrix sequels, but I did enjoy them and for some reason I felt the last one left things too wide open. Like it wasnt a proper ending. Id like to have some sense of closure one day but who knows if it will happen.

Bound was a hard R gay movie years before even the first matrix...
i would assume it does though.

no different than spike lee doing black oriented films though lol

Bound?

i forgot about that movie completely. its yes the two girls were together.

Jesus, this is going to be one tough time getting it financed much less seen.

There's only one near future scifi war movie I want to see from the Wachowski's, and that's the Second Renaissance, dammit.

Wasn't a fan of the last two Matrix movies....the plot of this one doesn't sound very interesting to me....have to wait and see how it progresses....but I don't see an easy road to getting financing.

they had problems with a low budget Jim Carrey movie

Wasn't that just a recent development? Like '08 or '09. The only movie they directed in that time period was Speed Racer. I guess most people do hate that one, though I really liked it.

Anyway, I'm interested in this. Never seen Bound or anything, but this sounds like an interesting premise. The whole hard R gay relationship doesn't really bother me that much.

I dont think so

Yeah, I don't remember hearing about that one, either

Sci-Fi war movie? Metal Gear Solid? just kidding. But I remember reading somewhere that Hideo Kojima (creator of MG) was asked whom he would like to adapt MGS to the big screen and responded "The Wachowski Bros."

a hard R gay scifi war movie doesnt even sound right...sounds like they just threw words together in an attempt to push the boundries...im surprised illegal alien wasnt used

It's the most noncommercial project I've ever heard of, it's like they intentionally went out and ticked every box on a movie studio's list of stuff they don't want in their films and put it all in.
