The movie screened this week and I think it looks awesome. The cameos alone are incredible: (Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Jason Schwartzman, Justin Long) all play The Beatles which could be a hilarious parody flick in itself I think. I'm a HUGE Jenna Fischer fan, think she's the most talented actress on The Office, and she looks SO hot in this movie.

Found this from the press junket, def. likes what sees & hear.

Who else is excited to see this flick?

I WAS excited for it. I thought the idea was excellent, I loved that it starred John C. Reilly, I loved that it was written by Judd Apatow, and, as you said, I loved the cameos. You already mentioned the Beatles but Jack White is also in it as Elvis and Frankie Muniz as Buddy Holly but... I saw the trailer a few days ago and it looked terrible, just like the average dumb parody movie that hollywood is flooded with.

Instead of doing like Edgar Wright does in his movies and comes up with his own unique film with its own plot that pays homage to whatever genre he's parodying, this looks just like the crap the wayans brothers do where they basically just rip off a movie completely, placing jokes in the the dumbest, most juvenile, and easiest jokes in and then call it a "parody." Everything I saw in the trailer was pretty much just a complete rip-off of Walk the Line (dur dur dur he sings a song called "walk hard" instead of "walk the line" get it? we changed it so that makes it phunny!"

REALLY disappointed. I only hope the trailer was a deception and the movie secretly is awesome.

I saw the trailer with Superbad, and I gotta say I thought it looked terrible.

Wayans Brothers!!??? C'mon, you have to have a LOT more faith Apatow than that. The guy has been cranking out comedy gold, and I feel like a lot more thought, effort, and time went into writing/producing a movie like Walk Hard than those other half-hearted parody flicks. Apatow's track record shows no signs of lame effort.
Check out this link I got with the transcript of Judd and John C talking about film at the press junket. Def. sounds like a man with a quality comedy plan.

I think your hope that it will be "secretly awesome" is a good hunch. A lot of signs point to this.
