WALK HARD trailer

I just finished rewatching on DVD and it is still great.

This is what satire ought to be. Not a scene by scene copy with a dick or fart joke thrown in (ala the "______ Movie" franchise) but a clever play on cliches within a genre while creating its own unique characters, plot, jokes, and world.

Great job by all involved.

Totally agree.

This is a sad world we live in when a genuinly terrific satire comedy comes out and is considered a "box office bomb", but crap like Epic Movie comes out and makes #1 movie in america it's opening weekend...that really sucks.

We need more great satire like Walk Hard now-a-days....because the vast majority that's been coming out sucks hard :(

The extended edition was even better! More of everything

The string of horrible parody movies took their toll on me, and I was actually stupid enough to avoid this brilliant satire until now. I love Walk Hard. It's the best spoof film in years. It's charming, crude only in small doses, original, and best of all the actors play their roles in an almost genuine way. Their goofiness is used sparingly, and most of the comedy instead comes from the absurdity of "rock star bio-pic" cliches they find themselves in.

That said, the utterly wacky Beatles sequence was probably the funniest part of the movie. The horrible casting and goofy impressions had me in stitches. It's also probably the best example of this movie's self-aware/self-explanatory writing (ie. the Beatles constantly reminding viewers that they're the Beatles).

"And not once did you pay for drugs!". This movie was hilarious, and endlessly quotable. I have the feeling it will get more appreciated as time goes by.

I just saw this movie a few days ago. It was A LOT better than I thought it'd be. Ghost Nate was probably one of my favorite parts though.

"I cant even *********e!"

I just bought this film on blu-ray the other day, it gets funnier every time. I especially love the "Thats Amore" bit, so random but hilarious still.

This was a horrible movie. I have never not laughed so much at a film I thought would be good.

IMO John didn't have anybody to feed off of as his costars aren't that funny anyways apart from the four Tim Meadows scenes. Reilley just felt alone and he couldn't carry this by himself.

I respectfully disagree. I thought he and Jenna Fischer played pretty well off of one another, and Reilly does a hell of a lot better on his own than he does as Will Ferrell's second banana.

I bought this in the States without having seen in theatres since it came with a soundtrack sampler. It was risky but was quite pleased with the blind purchase. The soundtrack is worth getting, one of my all time favourites.

Jenna Fischer isn't that good at comedy IMO, especially not winging something. Reilley and Ferrell play well off of each other and Step Brothers as well as Taladega Nights were loads better than this. Ferrell and Reiley are both one act ponies and the only movies that they are good in alone is when the cast are top notch comedic geniuses.

You thought Step Brothers was better than Walk Hard?

...

Right. I'm gonna just have to say "I disagree" and live with the fact that I can never talk to you about comedy ever again. I have a policy against discussing comedy with people whose taste is radically different from mine.

In the realm of comedy...none of these movies are any good:o And in the history of comedy...these won't even be considered.

Ferrel is past his prime and Reilley is only good on Tim and Eric as Dr. Steve Brule. I was expecting too much from this movie and it let me down. I expected nothing from Step Brothers and the chewbacca mask was gold:o

I bought the soundtrack the other day, brilliant. WHY IS THIS MOVIE SO POORLY REGARDED? I'd take it over Talledega Nights, Step-Brothers, or even Anchorman. It's easily one of my favourite comedies.

It's not poorly regarded. In fact, it's got a 75% at Rotten Tomatoes. Most people who see this movie love it. It's just that the Scary Movie series, and the bastards that made Date Movie, Epic Movie, and Meet the Spartans have completely ruined the realm of parody films. It's reached the point where GOOD parodies like Walk Hard are being avoided by the general public.

Yea your probably right there. Its just the majority of people I ask say they havent seen it, and they stayed away form it because they heard negative things. I do think though that people are gonna try and spread this movie. I know I've lent my copy round to multiple people.

I think one of the best things to come out of this film is the soundtrack (with many songs also being written by John C. ). If you know your music then you can love and appraicate the hell out of the songs. Ulitmatly though I feel that both the soundtrack and the film teach us a valuable and important message that so many of todays films either don't address or are simply to afraid and thats" "You've got 'ta love your negro man."
