WandaVision WandaVision General Discussion Thread

I don't understand all of the love for the show.

I like the nostalgia of the feel of the episodes, but it often goes too overboard on 50's sit-com as opposed to a 2021 Marvel show. I get it, but if I want to watch a My Three Sons episode, I will watch a My Three Sons episode. Get on with the plot already.

Other than the expectations of something happening at some point because it is Wanda/Vision/MCU-ish... the first two episodes gave me nothing to make me want to watch episode 3.

Plus, seven and a half minutes of credits? Really?

I like the whole filming in front of a live studio audience, that’s pretty cool. A nice homage to Dick Van Dyke show and other classic tv sitcoms.

Also did anyone else see the concept art of Wonder Man in the background of the producers office.

I loved it. You’re the biggest movie studio in the world. You haven’t put out anything new in over a year. You have the biggest movies of all time. And your first act back is to go all in on a 50s style sitcom with no action or explanation of what’s happening and why. That’s how you hook people back in.

Something tells me once the big picture plot gets more steam, it's be less of a binge need. Theory speculation is going to ramp up once we start finding out more, and I bet that'll keep us busy in between episodes.
Maybe. I guess I'm just in a rush to get to what's really going on, but also to see how they tackle the '70s-'00s eras of television.

I was confused by that as well because it made me think that there would be a post-credits scene after each episode. Not the case yet but I'm sure there will be one after the finale.

If this is a movie, the first three episodes are Act I. Act I most of the time is nothing. The action picks up a tad bit more in Act II (episodes 4-6) and then picks up full speed in Act III (episodes 7-9).

I really hope this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Debra Jo Rupp or Emma Caulfield. So good to see them on the screen again.
I have a feeling we'll be seeing them in the "real world" as well once the curtain is pulled back with what's going on, along with Vision's coworkers and boss, etc since we saw Monica Rambeau in episode 2 and we know that she's real. Think ending of Wizard of Oz style where you see that the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion were the farmhands.

I only saw the first episode but I liked Wandavision way more than I expected. This is coming from someone who has never been sold on Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda.

Hope it continues to be good.

Good catch. Also, there’s a hint of someone else from the Williams family in the intro to the 60s episode.

Agreed

No, boring people to death is not a hook, it's an anchor.

you don’t have the right prospective. This is meant to be a fantasy that starts out happy but ultimately will go dark and twisted.

Wanda is living out a dream, unfortunately this has consequences because her abilities are dangerous and can literal rip through the fabric of reality. I suspect the more she tries to deny the truth, the worsts thing will get.

I would have laid in bed all day binging the whole thing in one go if Disney had let me.

I definitely feel like things are going to escalate quickly after the first three episodes. People who have seen the third one are already saying they drop even more hints as to what's really going on in that episode which makes me wonder why they just didn't drop all three at once instead of just two.

I loved how they handled the darker undertones though, because it almost felt creepy in a way and alot like an episode of The Twilight Zone or something. I can also understand if some might find this to be a much better experiance to binge all at once too since the episodes are so short.

I think the first two episodes were good not great. I expect it to get better though. These Disney + shows are going to be marathons not sprints and we should know that's going to be the case coming in.

Well from a marketing standpoint they want to stretch this out since it's nine episodes total.

Week 1 (Episodes 1&2) Jan 15
Week 2 (Episode 3) Jan 22
Week 3 (Episode 4) Jan 29
Week 4 (Episode 5) Feb 5
Week 5 (Episode 6) Feb 12
Week 6 (Episode 7) Feb 19
Week 7 (Episode 8) Feb 26
Week 8 (Episode 9) March 5

And then the following week March 12th is the debut of Falcon and The Winter Soldier. They basically have adopted The Mandalorian style of one Week release that gets coverage and keeps the views coming back for more. Unlike Netflix who dropped it all in one shot. I like Disney+ strategy because it makes it fun to speculate and dig deep into what's going on, plus for eagle eye watchers and comic book fans we see so much Easter eggs in the Episodes that delight and tease wanting more...

Oh, I get it. I have the right prospective. It's just too much down the rabbit hole. I like the concept, but they are just overdoing the 50's sitcom caricature. If they had done it camp, them maybe this level would be okay, but they are doing it serious... so it's just not good. They need to real it in a lot, or just get on with the real plot. The nonsense has already jumped the shark and it's only two episodes in.

Or if it was being dome like Mojoworld. But it isn't. This is just boring. A great idea, gone horribly poorly...

I agree with most of what you said. Episode 1 was bad. Episode 2 had just enough intrigue to make me look forward to 3.

I'm glad most are loving this. But from what I understand, this show is kind of a slow burn. I will wait for the season to be over and then binge it, that is if I could resist waiting that long.

You got great patience sis. I couldn’t do it lol.

I didn't likeit either.

Like I said before, those episodes could have been a 10 minute part of a full length movie. I cant see myself rewatching these 2 episodes when its all over. Like if someone could edit all 9 episodes into a 2 hour movie in March then that would be great.

The only thing I liked is the credits at the end, the animation. But of course, I didn't pay attention to it when it was played for the 2nd episode.

Well i guess thats one thing I could say they improved from the Netflix's shows. More episode discussions and speculation as not all episodes are dropped in the same day/week.

I enjoyed it a lot...but it’s pretty annoying, that almost 10min are credits
