Want "The Spectacular Spider-Man" Season Three? Watch Season Two On Disney XD!

That sucks i hate when networks spilt a season up like that.

I haven't been able to watch this season b/c of the Friday schedule. How did Venom come back?

Eddie stalks and tricks Peter into unknowingly revealing where he hid the symbiote (the construction site). Then, Eddie comes with a hammer and busts it out of the cement.

Thanks. Normally there is a new thread for each episode, but are people just not watching this season?

there is buried in the pages here, since we were all talking about the episodes when they were first airing in canda/auz/etc.... locations before finally dxd started them up recently.

What he said. Of course not I started a majority of the threads for each season 2 episode :oldrazz:

I just came across the bit about the remainder of Season 2 airing in the Fall ...and it reeks. I'd chosen to not go looking for the eps online earlier, just out of preference, but I doubt I'm holding to that in lieu of this. This is just stupid.

On top of that, I just read where Weisman said there hasn't been a pickup for S3 as of yet. What in Steve Ditko's name is this Mickey Mouse of a network doing?! :cmad:

'Mickey Mouse of a network'. Heh.

I agree!

Whatever chance Spectacular Spidey had at a third season was probably lost when they split up season two. If you look at the shows that seasons were interupted or delayed during the writer's strike most didn't survive.(R.I.P. Pushing Daisies) I really hate hearing this and unless the show is performing poorly it makes no sense to me.

This can actually be a blessing in disguise. Remember that October and November are usually considered sweeps months. This may mean XD is confident in the show to be aired at such time.

(SIGH)As long season three or even more seasons are commissioned, I'll be glad. But for right now, I'm anxious! We won't find out if there will be a season three for quite some time now because of this odd scheduling.

that is possble spaceway but who know even though they are spilting the season 2 airings on dxd right now maybe they could announce say in a week or two i am just saying the order could come in and all that. We just have to stay positive.

It's all over the place. Originally, episodes air on Monday at 7:00 PM or 7:30 PM, not sure. But since season two is on hold until September or October, the show has also been airing at midnight! I know because I set my DVR to record TSSM, and I looked at the time it was recorded.

Yea for some reason they decided to hold off of the second half of the second season to sept/oct.

hey guys!
there is a new aticle over at animation magazine entitled " Spectacular Spider-Man Awaits Third Season" . check it out at the link below:

Solid article.

On the one hand, it can be a break in the flow to wait so long to air the second half of the series. On the other hand, wanting to air the rest of SS-M during October/November sweeps will get it some attention and shows some confidence in Disney XD for the product.

I mean, in 2003, MTV aired their Spider-Man cartoon at a rate of about 2 episodes a week, burned through it in about 2-3 months with few reruns, and forgot about it. While that show wasn't that great, that clearly is an example of a network that has lost interest in a show, and shows it. To put that in perspective, even FoxKids in 1999-2000 aired the even more abysmal SPIDER-MAN UNLIMITED for about twice that long.

As those last examples show, to be frank, Spider-Man has had a rough time staying on the air for longer than two seasons since the John Semper led 1993-1998 series wrapped. Spidey needed Iceman, Firestar, and Ms. Lions to make it 3 seasons on NBC in the 80's via SPIDER-MAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS (barely, as Season 2 only had 3 original episodes).

There is an easy example of a show that went through motions on Disney for another season; KIM POSSIBLE. After the third season wrapped in 2005, Disney was more or less ready to walk away and air repeats forever, but enough demand and whatnot got Season 4 on the air in 2007. Disney waited some 9 months before announcing the approval of Season 4 in Nov. 2005, and thus it took until 2007 to air.

It could be more up to Sony than Disney, though. Disney XD is merely the network home for the show. It could be that since the original episode order was worked by Kid's WB in 2007 of two 13 episode seasons, Disney has been essentially enjoying a free show; they paid only to promote and air it, not for production. It could be that now both sides are haggling over whether to pony up the dough for a third season under new terms. It is akin to a sports team that gets a big star on the cheap because another team is contractually obligated to pay a certain amount of their salary over a few years, and then once that contract ends, the player either gets a deal with the new team or is traded/moves. But as KIM POSSIBLE shows, it can take Disney a while to make up their mind about renewing a show after the last episode of a particular season ends. The dilemma in all this is that if Sony wants a Spidey cartoon on the air in time for the 4th film set for May 2011, production on the third season of SS-M has to start yesterday. Despite Wiesman & Co. already having some writing for season 3 down and knowing who to cast and whatnot, it still usually takes a year to a year and a half for finished animation to come back from overseas and be properly edited/mixed. Even if production on Season 3 started tomorrow, the odds of SS-M season 3 being aired anywhere before 2011 would not be even.

On the other hand, movie productions usually help push along comic TV cartoons. The WOLVERINE film no doubt helped W&TXM, much as the first movie made MTV bite, at least for 12 seconds, on their Spidey show and SPIDER-MAN 3 made Kid's WB bite on SS-M in the first place. More time between seasons may be rough for fans, but reruns on Disney XD will help keep it fresh (often dismissed is how popular the show is in Canada; YTV loves the show) and the buzz from the film could boost ratings in late 2011 to early 2012. Still, hopefully some decision about Season 3 should be made by someone before the end of this year.

thanks Dread,
it is always a pleasure to read your insightful posts

this may be a blessing in disguise. this will now push spidey into late 2009/early 2010, 2010 is where spider-man 4 will start ramping up with all the excitement that goes with that. sonly may see it as a no brainer to pick up season 3 and ride on the coat tails of SM4 so they both come out in 2011.

Nice post, Dread!

Gives some insight. Hope you're right and eventually we will get a Season 3. After all, 26 episodes is a little over a normal season, so you would think they would probably want at least 26 more to rotate in reruns.
