Want to work for FOX?

They cancelled Arrested Development. For NO VALID REASON.

now, I loved the show, but they did give it quite a few chances. it was f***in great, but it just wasn't successful. at least we got three seasons.

but Wonderfalls? probably the best new show when it premiered, but we only got three episodes before they canned that. now THAT'S f***ed up.

They didn't market Arrested like they should have.

They canned Wonderfalls after 3 episodes! They didn't even give it a chance.

It was critically acclaimed. I got the DVD and all 13 eps are excellent.

FOX didn't even show the 3 episodes in the right order.

To be an executive at Fox you have to follow these rules:

1. Aim shows towards a "young" crowd
2. Create a smart comedy
3. Once it becomes a hit; cancel it because by this time the "young" audience has now become "old"
4. Keep the simpsons going even though its no longer funny to the "old" crowd.
5. Repeat step 1

And dont forget to be an idiot

I can easily imagine these steps are true.

even if they didn't, the show did get a lot of good press. but not enough people took to it. you can't say they didn't give it any chances.

three seasons! that's a lot for Fox. hell, The OC used to be a phenomenon and it only got four seasons.

this is where I agree. they screwed up royally with Wonderfalls.

they totally mismanaged it. hell, they put it against Joan of Arcadia, which was quite similar and was out first. stupid move if I ever saw one.

I got the DVD too. I loved it specially because it ended up being a full story. sort of.

Have you checked out the commentary? It's pretty cool, they talk about all the bs FOX gave them. Pretty interesting stuff.

Andy Richter Controls The Universe

but Andy is back on NBC with Conan as a co-creator/executive producer!

Arrested Development
Titus

siiiigh...

Titus is on DVD, they got to three seasons but if these shows were on ABC, NBC or CBS they would've been cancelled after three weeks. Fox will hold onto lower rated shows. It still is frustrating when you see great shows cancelled or shows do well enough and then Fox moves them to a new timeslot which kills the show (90% of Fox's cancelled shows). House was pretty close to being cancelled and then American Idol turned it into the top ten show it is today.

haven't yet. it's one of those things I've been meaning to do since forever but never got around to. but I've heard or read most of the s#!t those guys had to go through.

what hurts the most though, is that while Wonderfalls got cancelled after three episodes, The Swan went on to a full season. how the f**k can you call that fair? :(

WTF?

Check these out:

24
Prison Break
House

- Some shows, especially American Idol- yes.... the shows above, hell no. The shows above are GREAT (even though I never got into 24, afraid it will be difficult to follow now).

If anything you should aim that at the 'movies' area of Fox, since they're more concerned with money (release a cut of the film theatrically, in order to double dip with a director's cut).

you say that as if every other major studio wasn't EXACTLY the same.

Andy Richter Controls the Universe, and Wonderfalls had enormous potential.:cmad:

Fox is the one that I've seen doing it most often- especially with their action films.

Biggest examples that come to mind:

Fantastic Four (although it retained most of its story)

And the prime target Fox attacked: Daredevil [I'm still pissed at Fox over that]

Only 3 shows in the past six years, with House and 24 on shaky ground until American Idol boosted their ratings. That's not the best record. Fox even has 7 less hours to fill for their timeslots. I haven't watched Bones but it does well enough, in its second season.

But Fox is great at putting their cancelled shows on DVD like Titus, Wonderfalls, The Lone Gunmen etc.
Kitchen Confidential was just annouced.

buddy, 24 is horrible now. All Jack EVER does is whisper and speak like hes out of breath. EVERYWHERE. And the plot is becoming more and more ridiculous, and a lot of scenes are drawing parallels with metal gear solid.
