Warner Bros Developing LEGO Movie...

People said the same about Star Wars characters.

I got back from seeing this earlier today for a second time and **** me, it's still fantastic. Think it might actually be perfect. You know, people say that "Everything is Awesome" was the highlight of the soundtrack but I don't think the main theme of the movie gets enough credit, can't stop humming it.

I feel sorry for Lord/Miller's agent this past week. He/she's inbox will have been filled with offers from every studio out there asking to meet with their clients for any of their upcoming blockbusters. It'll be interesting to see what they tackle after 22 Jump Street is out

:up::up:
There was no stopping The LEGO Movie this weekend, as Warner's 3D computer animated blockbuster easily remained in first place with an estimated second weekend take of $48.81 million. That was down just 29 percent from last weekend's opening weekend performance and brings the film's ten-day total to a stronger than expected $129.11 million. The LEGO Movie is now running 6 percent ahead of the $121.72 million ten-day start of 2012's The Lorax (which fell 45 percent in its second weekend to gross $34.85 million). BoxOffice is currently projecting a four-day gross of $61.0 million for The LEGO Movie (the film's official four-day estimate will be released on Monday morning).

The Simpsons is airing an all-Lego episode called, "Brick Like Me". It premieres on May 4th. After watching this movie, I'm interested.

I reiterate, this is the movie to beat.

Gonna go see this next Friday to celebrate my spring break (aka study week :o)!

I reiterate, this is the movie to beat.

I reiterate, this is the movie all the studios should watch out for. It's a force that can't be stopped. :o

Oh, and why is there no poll?

All future alien invasion movies needs 2 be on Taco Tuesday

Yes but it's still doubtful WB would put Marvel characters in a movie already filled with a bunch of characters from the Direct Competitor. ;)

It's like how DC properties are more prominent in The Big Bang Theory.

I don't care! Just give me Indiana Jones in the sequel.

Well, does WB have the rights for LEGO movies? If not, then Disney/Pixar can always make a ton of them with your precious Indiana Jones/Marvel/Star Wars characters. Oh and add in all recent Disney movie characters like Merida, Rapunzel and Olaf.

:o

The Avengers can get away with Shawarma Tuesday. But for all of the other movies Taco Tuesday

So happy to see this doing so well. So not happy that Lord/Miller aren't making the sequel.

I wouldn't worry too much:
Jared Stern’s involvement is born out of the creative consortium of top-notch writers and directors Warner Bros. created to foster new animated projects. “The Lego Movie” was greenlit before the formation of this consortium, but it is the studio’s first animated release since it decided to put it together. Warner Bros. did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Stern is one member of that group alongside Lord and Miller, “Muppets” writer/director Nicholas Stoller, who is working on “Storks” and “Bad Santa” writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who are working on “Smallfoot.” Each of those filmmakers is working on a specific project, but they will also provide guidance and feedback on some of the other projects being developed.

Saw the movie, just a few points;

A) The movie succeeds in it's primary function as my partner wanted to buy Lego (Wonder Woman) afterwards.

B) She wondered where Spider-Man was. I explained to her WB owns DC and DC owns properties like Batman, Superman, GL and Wonder Woman whilst Disney owns Marvel with Properties like Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk so it is very unlikely you will ever see a Marvel character in a WB movie.

C) It's incredible this movie is CG. Was told before the movie was CG not stop motion and I'm really sad I was because I would have been blown away if told AFTER seeing the movie. A truly amazing looking movie.

D) The 'turn' lost both of us, we both thought the movie was great up to that point.

E) We both thought the movie was a little too long.

So really good movie, laugh out loud funny, beautifully rendered (really sad someone told me it was CG rather than stop motion) but (for me) could have been 15 minutes shorter and the 'turn' tells you what the movie earlier shows you. Show don't tell. Not needed imho.

A solid 8.5/10. Movies loses half a point for the turn.

I think the twist made the whole movie better.

It was basically showing how a child confided in Lego, his own world of imagination and excitement, to escape "Lord Business". Imagination and creativity set us free from the real world, and that was really evident in the live-action sequence. Without all that I don't think the movie would have been as well received, because it would have appeared very generic.

Plus it explains why the film has such a cliche'd storyline :oldrazz:

Yeah to me the "twist" made an already great film feel close to a classic. But even though it felt perfect to me, I can see how someone wouldn't like the twist when it's just been a straight forward adventure up to that point.
