Warrior

Totally agree. Hardy knocked it out of the park in this one.

And yeah, it's an over the top movie but it works. Shame it's been overlooked.
I didn't know Hardy even existed until I watched Inception. It's not a deep role but he was good and a lot of fun in it. Then I got around to watching Bronson, which wasn't a good film on any level, but his performance was just fantastic to me and after watching Warrior I realized two things: Tom Hardy played three completely different characters in all of those films and he is a damn good actor.

I'm officially on the Tom Hardy train.:woot:

Yeah, after watching Bronson, I declared Hardy the new Daniel Day Lewis. The guy disappears into a role.

Easy now. lol. But I agree he's more of a really good character actor right now and I hope he stays that way for the most part. I mean I'm fine with him playing in silly stuff and playing a straight leading man role. I hate when people say that actors shouldn't ever go for the paycheck role.

I'm one of the few who thinks that "This Means War" looks like fun. I doesn't hurt that I like Chris Pine and now Tom Hardy.

Both of them are really charismatic. Even if that movie is a run of the mill action buddy schtick I'm sure those two will make it more memorable than had it been with say Channing Tatum and Mark Wahlberg for example.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to that one too. I like both of them and the movie looks like a lot of fun. Still, McG and the unbearable Chelsea Handler have me concerned.

I like Chelsea Handler on her late night show but she is a terrible actress and award show host.

I wish Reese Witherspoon did more serious roles as I thought that she was really good in Walk the Line.

:lmao:Calm down there buddy...Hardy can't even hold DDL's jockstrap.

DDL is on another planet. If they had a hall of fame for actors DDL would be a first ballot

Hardy is in the same mold as Lewis though. He has a lot of range and is believable in everything he does.

Daniel Day Lewis needs to do a purely comedic role.

just watched it! 7.5/10, thought it was very good. i know people love loved this and I really enjoyed it but it was kind of messy, not gonna lie. A lot of unresolved family conflict in the film, plus some formulaic feel good sports stuff.

The end was just to abrupt for everything else we were set up for. A lot of characters stories coming to an end just didn't feel complete. I loved that it was moody and shot like an indie, unlike Oconnor's other sports movie Miracle. But near the end it treads into typical sports movie corny zone. All that stuff with the Marines saluting/singing in the crowd, the principal who yelled at his students about supporting Brendan fighting, and then joining them later to watch and cheer him on. Other than that...that's a very high 7.5/10 from me regardless and Hardy and Nolte did a great job, would love for either of them to get some kind of notice but its a little late in the game unfortunately.

I didn't think the world was ready for a serious UFC/MMA movie but this one achieved greatness in doing just that.

Not only did you give Drive the same score as myself and the same top movie honor I gave it but you just wrote what I would have wrote if I wrote a review of Warrior and gave it the same score I gave it. It's almost creepy.

i wouldnt mind just being on... i'll stop there :halo:

Yeah, Hardy is quite the talent. I saw him in Tinker, Tailor today and he can just disappear into a role, like this one. He shared some scenes with Oldman, and I still couldn't believe this guy is playing Bane.

Watching Star Trek on TNT at 2am about five years ago, I knew Tom Hardy was special.

This video illustrates my point.

I can't decide if those first set of lines are good lines or bad lines.

Me personally, I felt the screen-test's lines to be superior over what was chosen for the film. There was more titillation in what Hardy displaying.

Just finished watching this. I admit I scoffed when my buddy brought it over. I've never watched an MMA match in my life and I don't plan to start but damn if this wasn't one of the best flicks I've seen in a long long time. 2 1/2 hours went by like it was nothing.

Got pretty choked up a couple of times too :( Also going to buy a copy tomorrow :D Great film.

Unfortunately, this is perhaps the biggest reason why the film underperformed at the box office and will, more than likely, get snubbed at the Oscars. Although MMA is mainstream, it still upholds a controversial image to the public.

Tom Hardy and Nick Nolte were astounding.

And Hardy's 'Beast-Mode' in this movie served as the perfect Bane preview as well.

Yeah I wrongly assumed this was another generic Undisputed or Never Back Down so I didn't bother to investigate it further and I never even saw a trailer that I can remember. If I'd gotten wind of the cast or some reviews or something it might have been different but it managed to completely pass me by. I wouldn't have even seen it tonight if my friend hadn't basically made me sit down and watch it.

I wish I'd seen it at the theater. I'M A MISGUIDED FOOL!

I just bought this today and just watched it for the second time ( the first time being in theaters). WOW this is just a fantastic movie. Sure it can be cliche in some places but the emotional beats hit hard. This is a solid 8 out 10! It defintely needs to get some kinda Oscar nod or something.

It's definitely better on rewatches than the first viewing...so great!

That casino scene between Hardy and Nolte where Tommy just basically tells his father that he's a piece of **** and he has no use for him kills so bad.

Just got done watching this film, wow what a brilliant film, I feel bad for not going to see it in cinemas last year, fantastic acting from all the cast, def gonna buy it on dvd this weekend.

Its like comparing sand to a mountain. They are both rocks. Hardy hasnt shown anywhere near the talent Day Lewis has. Its ridiculous to compare them.

And Hardy plays very similar roles to me in many movies. There's a lot of action roles and fighting roles in his resume.
