Warrior

Watched this twice since I got it on Christmas day. It only gets better with repeated viewings.

Finally got the chance to watch this movie today. I can honestly say that I had to fight some tears. Last movie that made me cry was "The Rugrats Movie".

Love it, So touched Boxing/Martial Arts mix Drama Family, 2 thumbs up

I enjoyed Warrior a lot more than The Fighter. I'm not saying that the Fighter was a bad movie, it had some great performances, but I found it to be a bit boring, and I just don't like Wahlberg as an actor.

I felt the same way, I still think the fighter got way overhyped and granted the cast was more flashy then the warrior but the warrior had alot more going on under the surface. The fighter also felt like it wanted to be a comedy as well as a drama at the same time and felt off, Bale was good but he went alittle over the top at one point. I just wished this would get get the same amount of attention. I would take any actors in warrior over marky mark anyday of the week.

Hardy and Nolte deserve nominations. I'll be livid if their names are not uttered by the academy.

Sadly, this film went unnoticed, thus, the performances will too. :csad:

Nolte should deserve a nomination, not Hardy...

I felt Hardy's performance in this was stronger than George Clooney's in The Descendants and Brad Pitt's in Moneyball, and they'll get nominated, so in that sense, I say he IS deserving. But yes, he won't get one. Nolte, on the other hand, very well might. And he deserves the win, imo.

If Nolte gets a nom and not Hardy, it's purely on name recognition, IMO. They were both great in this film, but no way in hell would I put Nolte over Hardy.

^disagree nolte blew me away hardy was very good but nolte has me in tears in every scene he was in

if brooks wins i will flip he is getting more recognition more for it being out the box character than what he usually does than anything

Hardy and Edgerton were great. Nolte was just phenomenal. If he doesn't get at least a nom, the Academy should lose all of their remaining credibility.

It'd be like Children of Men getting completely snubbed all over again. Which was an utter disgrace.

^what is getting me upset is nolte is being left off so many nomination lists

everyone is loving brooks which i just dont see it he played a good intimidating gangster but thats it

nolte destroys him

even geek sites are snubbing him

Now, now, Brooks was amazing also. He played more than an intimidating gangster. Have you even seen Drive? There is definitely more to that character than just being a generic mobster.

Just my opinion, but Brooks impressed me more than Nolte did.

I'd put them about level. Both really great performances. Nolte was just heartbreaking. Brooks gave a really three dimensional performance of a character that could have easily been a generic, one note mobster figure.

we will never agree i saw drive brooks was good but nolte destroys him

nolte in the hotel scene alone out did everything brooks did in drive

i liked brooks i dont feel he was better at all but i felt nolte was oscar winning worthy

Nolte imo gave one of the best performances of the year

and it helps nolte has more screen time than brooks and is a character you feel for who gave a range of physical emotions

so many great scenes with nolte

See I felt for Brooks' character too... kinda. Even though he was a sadistic mobster there was a sadness and regret about him with what he was doing.

The scene after he kills Shannon and goes home, cleans his blade and just sits there in silence is amazing acting.

i love that scene too but nolte has me in tears many scenes brooks just was'nt sympathetic or good enough for me

the house scene with paddy/tommy was so powerful

everything from regret to sadness to anger to tears

nolte gave such a well rounded multi emotional performance that sets him far apart from brooks

sorry to me it is not even close he gave a better performance and one of the best performances of the year that is sadly going unnoticed

just watch the paddy/tommy house scene

paddy/brendan scene outside brendan's house

paddy/tommy casino/hotel scene

he was such a sympathetic character that went through such a variety of emotions that you really felt for him

and it is disgusting that he gets snubbed by globes,Spirit Awards,London critics Awards, etc.

Yeah, I agree... I found Brooks f***ing vicious but he had this sort of sad, "How the hell did I get here?" aura about him that added so much more to the character.

I might be biased though. I think I didn't feel that much for Nolte because he reminded me of a more sympathetic version of my own grandfather (an abusive drunk from Pittsburgh).

Brooks and Nolte are my two "Supporting Actor" faves, they were both brilliant. But if I had to pick one, it would be Nolte.

Ugh, I just found out my demonic DVD player scratched my copy of Warrior!

Eh, I feel that Drive was a bit overrated. Shannon's death (along with ending) was underwhelming. I felt no dread or suspense -- it was emotionless.

Nolte's performance was more memorable, in my opinion. Hardy, definitely, deserves a nomination, at the very least, but Nolte deserves the win.

So I recommended this movie to a friend of mine the other day. She watched it tonight and told me she thought it was overrated, unrealistic, predictable crap and would never watch it again.

I think I'm going to stop recommending movies to her. I think her ego gets in the way of everything. Hardcore movie fans these days seem to walk into everything thinking, "Every movie these days sucks, I'm too good to be watching any of this crap, and I'll bet I can find 100 things wrong with this one in the first 10 minutes."
