its based on an actual incident that took place like five years ago...so idk, do we have that technology?

Hopefully Denzel goes all Alonzo on that train! Looks like a good movie, could be intense like SPEED was the 1st time I saw it.

Believe me, I have absolutely no knowledge of locomotives but if cars are now developed w/ technology (i.e, On-Star) which law enforcement can remotely shut off in the event that it's involved in a high-speed chase or stolen than surely someone would think to use the same technology to shut down a 300 ton monster barreling out of control.

Is there anyone that isn't sick of Tony Scott?

Looks pretty good, action with a bit of The Cassandra Crossing sprinkled in

Pine performance in Trek only proves that he is a better actor than Worthington, you don't need to look at anyother of his films. Unlike Worthington he has charm and facial expressions.

Also, whocares that he played in a bunch of romcoms? Every actor has to start somewhere.

This. Trek alone shows that he should be the guy getting thrown at us in every big action movie being made, not Worthington.

Every movie this year that I think will be a Razzie award winner from the trailer ends up being critically acclaimed

Just got back from seeing this; solid, believable thrill ride. You can't go wrong with Scott and Washington.

8.5/10

I saw it this afternoon. I liked it. Great action sequences, especially in the last half-hour, and Pine is adorable as always.

Scott may have made some duds but overall he's a very talented director. Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop, The Last Boy Scout, Crimson Tide, Enemy of the State, Spy Game and Man on Fire not to mention Deja Vu are some very fine cinematic works of art!!!

I still think he could make a great Punisher film though!

Yea the trailer for this was quite bad and I hated Pelham 123 remake so I thought this was gonna fail.

I thought the movie was annoying for the first 30-45 minutes mainly because of Tony Scott's ADD directing style and I lost count how many times they showed the train with the ominous whooshing sound effect. The quieter moments with the lead characters and the last 45 minutes made up for it though.

I liked the movie. I've absolutely hated Scott's movies since Spy Game from a cinematography point, but I thought the washed out, over contrasted look worked well for the setting of the movies. I liked that the characters were fairly simple, but still fully realized and three dimensional. I was extremely impressed at Scott's ability to give the trains real size and mass. I was cringing throughout the whole movie waiting for someone to get rolled underneath the wheels. All in all, I'm giving the movie 8/10. The manner in which the media's reporting of the event was used as exposition really stretched my suspension of disbelief for the film. The kind of information they were reporting would never be released so quickly, or at all for some of the details of what was transpiring.

I liked the fact that Scott made the train 'itself' a member of the cast. It was like the train, was a living breathing entity of destruction. It almost felt like the train itself was the star of the movie.

I noticed that Denzel didn't seem to be as front and center in this movie, considering he's the A lister of the cast. It felt more like a collaboration between him, Pine and Dawson; each of whom got about equal screen time.

Great film, enjoyed it tremendously. Totally agree with what Golgo-13 said. This film gets :up::up::up::up:

Watched it last night, it was surprisingly entertaining, I'll give Tony that much.

Why is Rosario Dawson stuck doing supporting roles now?

LOL.

I guess "Stoppable" just didn't have the same ring to it.
