Watching an Entire Movie Series and Posting Your Thoughts Thread

It would have been nice if those directors had filmed those movies back to back. They also did that with Back to the Future II and III and then you have Tarantino's Kill Bill movies as well.

As for the other characters in Temple - aside from Lao Che, memorable in his few minutes, they are entirely forgettable. Even the villains, nasty as they are, have no real characteristics besides what they look like. They are an evil cult, that's all you get.

I disagree with this. Mola Ram is probably the best villain in the series. He is one of the most genuinely creepy characters that you will ever see outside a horror film. His introduction scene where he pulls a flaming heart out of a guy's chest is probably one of the most famous images for any kid who grew up during the 80s.

Why was The Temple of Doom a prequel?

To show a different Indiana Jones. In Raiders, Crusade, and Crystal Skull it's all about things going to a museum. In Temple he's in it to make money. Hence the entire opening scene. Then, Indiana Jones essentially goes to hell and returns a changed man. Think of it as origin story that Steven Spielberg re-wrote in Crusade.

Anyone else catching the recent LOTR theatrical screenings?
