Watchmen: Box Office Potential?

$150 Domestic, $150 overseas. I'd see it doing somewhere around there which isn't bad for non-commercial superheroes the GA isn't familiar with in a March release.

I think people really underestimate how big the potential audience for this movie is. Literally millions have read the graphic novel. And that's not an exagerration of any sort. Millions more have heard of it. WATCHMEN isn't some obscure little cult book even though it doesn't have a monthly book or appear on tons of merchandise.

I'm sure it will make a decent chunk of change, but it most likely won't be any record breaking/eye popping numbers. I'm excited to see it

A "Batman" film has the Batman fanbase. An "Iron Man" film has the Iron Man fanbase.

"Watchmen" has the entire comic book fanbase...it really is for fans of comics in general rather than just fans of the book itself.

That plus both hefty word of mouth about the book and the granduer of the teaser will go in its favor.

Honestly, it might do V numbers but this movie is a hard sell to anyone who doesn't know the story. It will probably take the number one slot for a week and then plummet drastically; before long fans will shift their posts from the movie to the DVD release.

Same director, same selling point, I see it doing as well as 300, but not better than The Dark Knight, or even Titanic.
