We are just on different pages then. I see Thor as another Fantastic Four movie. A decent, harmless little film that no one will rememeber in a few years.

pretty much. Just a pocorn flick that only thor fans will probably remember in a few years.

agreed, sadly.

But the sequel could work even more on the boxoffice, I suppose.

I'll say something if I'm wrong and Thor is later regarded as a great film that has done anything special in regards to the industry or it's boxoffice success or anything for that matter but right now, I'm not seeing it.

Like, I like Batman Begins but don't love it like others do but I have no problem acknowledging that it's very influential film to industry at large and moviegoers. Just look at Star Trek and the Bond Reboot for proof. I'm not saying that a movie has to be that to be remembered like Batman Begins or have that same sort of effect to be remembered.

Anyone calling thor better than First Class Is just crazy.I will take the action In First Class over Thor. For all the critism over X-Men films over changing things jane Foster In Thor has very little In Common with the COmic book character except the name. The character of Darcy was 100 percent a waste of time.I like to go slap whoever thought
she should be In the film. And considering Jane won't be In The Avengers why have that ending. The Hulk VS The Abomination In The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man Vs Iron Monger In iron Man and Iron Man and War machine VS Drones In Iron Man 2 were better.

Thor was just harmless fun. Actually I was kind of underwhelmed. Nothing really struck me as awesome but nothing was cringe-worthily bad either.

On the other hand, XMFC had a number of great moments and even emotional and thought-provoking scenes. Unfortunately, for me at least, the whole movie was ruined by cheesy line-deliveries and moments.

And although I agree that Banshee's wire work was close to seamless, Angel's was very badly done.

I guess so. Having to hurry means throwing money at it to meet the deadline. I hope Fox learns from this. Vaughn's proven he can spend money very well indeed, with Kick-Ass.

That's why the budget for Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End spiralled so high. Disney threw money at FX houses to get the shots finished on time.

If they make a sequel they'll have more time, so they may be able to get away with only a slightly bigger budget but end up with a much bigger film. Vaughn stretched his $28 million Kick-Ass budget far.

Look at the bright side.
Now that FC's chances for a sequel have gone the way of Superman Returns, we may get X4!

That's not a very good comparison, smarty-pants.

'Superman Returns' had a whopping 270 million dollar budget and made 390 million dollars worldwide. 'X-Men: First Class' had a 160 million dollar budget and looks to cross 300 million dollars worldwide. Overall, I'd say that 'First Class' has great chances of getting a sequel in the works because the big heads in the studio were already expecting it to gross as the first 'X-Men' did so that box-office can expand in the future because of a strong fan-base and growing popularity. Trust me when I say this: THERE WILL BE A 'SECOND CLASS'.

No, they really weren't.

Sorry if I keep having to remind you that this is a box office thread and not a review thread, but I'm not going to remind you about this again. Take that discussion to one of the other threads.

Ok, I see how this is going. I guess i'm the only one that strays off topic? At any rate you won't have to remind me again.

All I know are these facts...

Thor = Officially the best movie of May

First Class = A huge leg up on being the best movie of June

Captain America = High probability the best movie of July

Break that down any way you want head to head but that's one great showing and a MARVELOUS summer!!!!

Yes!! You're right. Cyclops is dead, Jean is dead, Prof X is dead, Mystique and Rogue have no powers, wolverine is a wuss, storm is annoying, the phoenix saga was basically thrown out the window, etc.....sounds like a great set up to me.

If they're dumb enough to make an X4 and not a sequel to First Class I'll be pretty upset. In fact, I prefer a reboot.

Ditto. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'd be upset, but I'd certainly be disappointed, as I genuinely have ZERO interest in seeing a continuation of X3.

First Class needs to continue so I can see more of Fassbender's Magneto. Other than that I don't care about prequels, I want sequels.

Glad to see I'm not the only one. I've seen so many people wanting an X4 and can't agree with that. I'm done with that cast, especially Berry and Paquin.

I just wish this film did better this weekend.

I say ignore X3 & the ending of X2. Like say X4 starts at the X Mansion & Professor X put Wolverine in a dream state & the dream started when he was left alone with the kids & the mansion attack to help him regain his memories & Wolverine dreamed of this fake world that was the second half of X2 & all of X3. They end up never happening

The bright side is this made more than Fantastic Four did in it's second weekend. However the big test will be what the hold is next week. Fantastic Four actually had stiff competition against Willy Wonka and Wedding Crashers in week 2, but held it's own in week 3 against the bomb of summer 2005 "The Island".

As far as the comments about Thor, it's rather pathetic that some on here can't speak positively about XFC, without trashing Thor. I realize it's just a few, and a minority at that. Thor is going to gross more than XFC, and that's just the way it is, if you don't think it's as good of a movie then fine, but you don't have to trash it to somehow justify XFC.

XFC is a great film in it's own right. I think it was a big mistake to try and make it a prequel, but still a fun enjoyable film. Hopefully it will make enough to grant a sequel.

You're being a bit dramatic here. X-men First Class didn't flop. It made the same amount as the original X-men movie, a bit more in fact, and as I remember it got a sequel or two :cwink:.

But X-Men only cost $75 million and X2 only cost $120 million

XFC have yet to gross $100 million in US alone.

If they make X4, I'll be so happy! :woot:

So what if X3 sucked! All they need is a good story! And the X-Men universe has a lot of characters that they haven't introduce yet in the movies.

First Class is following on from a couple of toxic movies. It was never gonna make big bucks. But Fox I expect knew that, and hopefully they are a bit more leniant when it comes to greenlighting a sequel.

Because a sequel to this movie will definitely make a lot more money.

I also don't get all the love for X4. I don't want it anymore. I want a First Class SEQUEL.
