After the hit of the first trailer, and with Comic Con coming - this is a thread to discuss the building Hype for this movie.

One good sign that the trailer was well received by the audience is that the song "The Beginning is The End is The Beginning" has jumped high on the iTunes download list and is now the most downloaded song from The Smashing Pumpkins.

This trailer could not of been more perfect, or perfectly placed.

oh wow I didn't even notice that the smashing pumpkins song was so high! It's number 35 right now

Well, that's pretty sweet. It IS a darn cool song, waaaay better suited for Watchmen than Batman.

Anyways, still looking forward to a bunch of stuff even though I was plenty satisfied and de-hypered this weekend.

I guess Manhattan is my favorite, and being VERY pleased with the way Rorschach's voice sounded, I'm pretty hyped about how Manhattan will sound. I guess Rorschach's voice was pretty much dead-on with the way most people imagined it. But how should the doc sound?
I'm hyped... :yay:

I'm re-reading the book, and bringing it to work to read on break. A lot of my coworkers are asking what its about, one kid had already heard of it and wants to read it.

I was glued to my seat waiting for the trailer before TDK. The trailer was great, the song fit the mood so well. Despite wanting to t see TDK for months, this trailer totally distracted me. I came home and watched it 5 more times.

I feel like all I ever do is wait. First, there was the long, agonizing year and a half period I waited for The Dark Knight, and now, there's still eight months or so until Watchmen movie hits theaters. All this hype is making me super excited, but there's still such a long way to go, yet.

GAH!

Same thing happened to me. It's like, Watchmen trailer totally stepped in and cut some of the hype I was going through. I watched the trailer a lot of times before going to see TDK (trailer was out the same day TDK was out down here, in Argentina)

Someone say "hYPE?"

This trailer is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Well put together and the music fit so perfectly, it's like it was made specifically for the trailer. Watchmen is going to be one great movie!!!

Whats funny is that about 10 years ago, WB found this song not only suited for batman, but BATMAN AND ROBIN.. Go check out the Batman and Robin sdtk from 1997 and check out that last track on the album..

weird.

lol The LEAST dark Batman movie ever made got one of the best, darkest songs on its sdtk. Now see what happens when u actually market a song PROPERLY (even if it is over 10 years old) with a trailer like this one for Watchmen? ITunes is going nuts with a hidden gem from the mid 90's from an underrated band thats disappeared

Watchmen is currently the second highest selling book on Amazon.

Its moviemeter on IMDb (I don't even know what that is) is up 419%.

I don't think the trailers that great. It's more like an extended teaser it doesn't build any idea of what the movie's actually about. I think if I hadn't read the book I'd be rather put off actually, it looks like another silly hero flick. But then I guess maybe that's the point.

And I mean the trailer is bad, not the footage. Everything looks amazing. Better than I could've hoped.

And I LOVE that they used the same song from Batman&Robin. Snyder really does get this book, doesn't he? And more importantly he's marrying the medium with the message. An examination of not just superheroes but superheroes in film.

It is a teaser, and that's what they're supposed to do. They're supposed to give you a glimpse of a movie, without really telling you what it is.

Wait until the end of the year (my guess is Quantum of Solace, November). Then we should get a real trailer that tells people what the movie is, and more than 2 lines of dialogue.

ah, for some reason I thought it was supposed to be a trailer.

all good then. marvelous in fact

My question is this: What is the likely box office for this movie? I really want to see it, as does, I would assume, most people posting on here. But that also was true of Sin City, and that movie had big movie stars in it and still didn't even get to $75 million. Are expectations going to be unrealistic because of The Dark Knight? Or will this be a sleeper hit out of nowhere like 300?

MY DOGS ARE HUNGGRY!!!

Oh, excuse me, I mean to say that I'm extremely Watchmen hungry. I want more. Fast. I'm hyped.

It's a great ****ing movie indeed. It seems to be Hate-it-or-Love-it though.

I've watched the trailer dozens of times. So incredibly awesome!

Thought this would go here. Fandango did a poll about the most anticipated movies of the rest of this year and for next year as well.

http://www.fandango.com/fandangoblog#577250

- 2009's Most Anticipated: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (43%), followed by Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (16%), Night at the Museum 2 (7%), Watchmen (7%) and Star Trek (6%).
