Ok....here it is, from Watchmencomicmovie.com.

Watchmen Shoot In L.A.

A mob scene was filmed in downtown Los Angeles this week, but it’s not what you might think

There’s been a rumor going around that Watchmen had filmed a scene on the 19th at the intersection of Broadway and West 8th Street in Los Angeles.

According to eyewitnesses the scene was quite elaborate and included more than 250 angry extras rushing out of a building and into the street before someone was chased by police dogs and arrested. Some exterior dialog was also shot.

So what’s the story? Well, our sources at Warner Bros. confirmed that, yes, the filming is in fact for Watchmen, but it's not for re-shoots for the film, or for any DVD extras.

It turns out that the shoot was for the music video of My Chemical Romance’s version of Bob Dylan’s “Desolation Row” — the song being used for the Watchmen film’s closing credits.

That’s not all. It also seems the the music video’s director is none other than Watchmen movie helmer Zack Snyder.

The building that sits at that L.A. intersection is 802 South Broadway, which has been used as a location for several movies including The Prestige, Mulholland Drive and Mambo Kings.

I'm a huge fan of Dylan, and (obviously) Watchmen. I think MCR covering this song is absolutely wrong. Even if I liked the band, it's just not a good match. I can't picture the film ending to this song. It just doesn't seem right.

That being said, the music video doesn't really change anything. It's not actually part of the film, so even if it's horrible, it won't alter the film. At least they have a good director for the video! I'd rather have Snyder make the video than Brett Ratner.

So keeping in mind that I'm not keen on the song, at least the video should be watchable! And if not, it won't change the film!

Exactly how I view it as well. As long as it doesn't alter the film in any way, then go ahead...I don't give a ****.

As much as I hate the band, as long as it doesn't come after "I leave it entirely in your hands." Ketchup drops on smiley shirt, cuts to black to credits. Perfect film.

It can come way into the credits and I couldn't give a s**t.

Then again...
If someone told me that Jonny Cash would take "Hurt" and turn it into something wonderful i wouldnt have beleived them. Im going to use the most famous and powerful slogan on this board

"wait and see"
:)

Sweet, I don't give a flying funky town about MCR, but I'll be leaving when it's starting so I don't mind...
:oldrazz:

I think the outright hatred of MCR is a bit much. They're actually a pretty good band, musically anyway... I just ****ing hate their image and their fanbase, but their songs are actually quite good.

That said, I'd rather they do an original song that would sort of fit Watchmen, rather than covering a song by Bob Dylan.

its not gonna affect my movie going experience. but based on principle alone, the idea of MCR even breathing dylan's name is just wrong on so many levels.

Not really, in my opinion. I don't like them image-wise or musically. I think they're crap. They said that they intend to do an "80's style" punk version of the song, but knowing them, it'll be overproduced and sound modern, not 80's. And they either mean it'll sound like Black Flag or The Knack. And neither is appropriate for the ending.

I could care less if they show up on the CD soundtrack, as i probably have all the songs that will show up on the cd anyway. But if they're in the movie, and it comes after "I leave it entirely in your hands", i'm gonna be pissed. Loud rock music, be it good music or bad, will take away the impact of the ending to this film. You can try to convince me that it's the credits, big deal. But that's besides the point. The silence before the credits start, and as Dylan's soft, chilled out, acoustic guitar comes on over the sound speakers will have more of an impact that loud, distorted guitars. It will make the impact of the ending even more powerful.

It's why "Children of Men" had such a :wow: ending, because the John Lennon song fit so well. Had some newer rock band done some loud distorted cover of it, it would have ruined the ending.

Snake, myself and others have argued this to death, and i really hope this argument doesn't spawn more stupidity(as in "NO YOU SUCK!! YOU'RE A LESSER HUMAN BEING FOR THINKING IT WONT WORK! IT'S THE END CREDITS MORON!!!!!!111!"

I think their image is far more offensive than their music, personally :hehe: But their involvement is still an awful misfortune and a desperate attempt to reach a certain audience. I wish they would just use the original song.

I've never really understood the MCR hate. Yes they are silly pop-punk/emo band, but they are also comic fans like us.

they do have some good songs my favorite is probably "The Ghost Of You"

Oh, I get the hate. It's just that people hate the wrong thing, if you know what I mean. I hate their image. I hate their fans. And any other normal human being probably does too, and ipso facto, they hate their music.

The thing is, that they are great musicians. They do know their stuff, and Gerard does have a great voice, so I think this will be good.

I mean, it could've been a lot worse with bands like Tokio Hotel or Jonas Brothers who actually can't make music.

Who, whoa, whoa! My Chemical Romance are doing the end credits music? And it's a cover of Desolation Row?
Just when i thought it was physically impossible for me to hate this band any more than i already do they go and pull somethng like this...
God help us all.

i have stood on the stage as they played, not 10 feet away from them, watching them. and they are FAR from being even mediocre musicians, they do not know their stuff. they are a terrible band. i could care less about their "image" or their fans or anything other than the music. the music is what matters to me. and they are not good musicians.

Bull****. Their are a crapload of worse musicians than MCR. I dont see how they "dont know their stuff" at all....

I really wish people would stop saying this is about "reaching an audience" or "dumbing it down". That's not why this is happening. This is happening because Zack Snyder likes MCR. That's it. The director of this movie wants to work with a band he likes and put them in his movie, but since he's constricted to pre-1985 music for the whole movie, he decided to squeeze them in during the credits.

So say what you will about Snyder's personal taste in music, but people need to stop with all this "catering to the MTV crowd" ********. He's not catering to the MTV crowd, he's catering to himself.

Well, we'll wait and see. Who knows? It could sound different from what we normally hear from them. I just hope they don't kill the song.

Yeah, but...it's Johnny Cash!! He's epic. As is Dylan. I don't see why they can't just use the original song??

im not saying there aren't worse musicians. there certainly are. im just saying, as someone who has an immense appreciation and respect for music, and who has witnessed MCR up close and personal, they're not good musicians. gerard's voice is horrible live. their drummer has no chops. the guitarist was entirely uninspiring. and it's not even like "oh, maybe they had a bad night"...because after the show, they were all pretty stoked about their performance.

Oh wow.

oh.....wow.

I can't get the image out of my head of the band playing their crappy cover in an alley with "Who Watches the Watchmen" sprayed on a wall while Rorschach is skanking, Nite-Owl, Silk Spectre, and Comedian are jumping around, and The good Doctor is just standing still, nodding to the beat

-sigh-
some ppl are soo judgemental about every little thing..

This is so not a big deal. We could argue all day about whether MCR is "worthy" to cover Dylan's Desolation Row, but it's really kind of irrelevant. It is what it is. A cover is a cover, and MCR are apparently pretty big WATCHMEN fans.

It's the music video that the end credit song will have. At least it's WATCHMEN-themed.
