WB & DC Meet For A Summit

Hey, Beastmaster was the bomb back in the day. Tanya Roberts. Those ferrets. A campier-than-camp Rip Torn as the bad guy. What's not to love?

Beastmaster really didn't grab me thought. Speaking of Tanya Roberts, remember her Sheena movie?

Actually Marvel intended to do a sequel. The original the Incredible Hulk script by Zak Penn was written as a sequel to Hulk. Leterrier was signed up to do a sequel to Hulk. It was basically a hybrid. A sequel but a revamp at the same time like what Jett is saying with the latest Man of Steel script.

Then came along Ed Norton who took upon screenwriting duties for the film as well and changed it from revamped sequel to vague reboot.

I probably would have seen the hybrid. I did not see the reboot. :bh:

THere were certainly no dangling plot threads that needed to be eliminated from The Hulk to make a sequel work, but the re-boot origin certainly set the continuity to make it fit with the broader plans for the Avengers film.

Things that would make me like the sequel:

1)Kill Richard in a plane crash Superman didnt save and turn him into Metallo. Later he could die saving Superman from Brainiac.

2)Brainiac coming after Jason and we see more of the history of Krypton.

3)Luthor without Kitty and stupid thugs and loved by people.

4)Fix the whole Superman appearence: The damn costume, especially the neckline and the shade or red, the hair.

5)Recast Bosworth, for the love of god!

Otherwise, forget it!!

I could totally see Richard becoming Metallo or Parasite.

You are trying to win back detractors. Messing with comic continuity at this point is the last thing you want to do,imo.

Davis Bloome = Doomsday?
Glactus = A cloud?

If John Corben isn't Metallo. You are just causing a crap storm and giving fans a reason to doubt the authenticity of saying "staying close to the comics"

I tried.

I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just basing this on what happens everytime on comicfan sites when the slightest thing is changed. Joker's make-up. Superman neckline. Spidey's organic webbing.

Jason was a huge departure. Now you can't give people a reason to convince themselves not to see a sequel. Find a different way to kill Richard.:yay:

The Glactus cloud worked on some levels and not on others, but it was a nice try.

Realistically, Richard is the smallest hurdle imaginable. He could be dispatched rather easily.

But to simply eliminate him and Jason would be a clear admission that SR was the wrong approach. And if you do that, you might as well reboot.

Not necessarily. Not all characters return in sequels. And they vary in popularity from Jar Jar to Nightcrawler.

I would be fine with it if Richard and Jason just disappeared offcscreen and were never mentioned. That would be perfect- but that would be an admission that SInger really got it wrong in SR by bringing them in in the first place.

No it's not. He was always meant to be an obstacle to Lois and Superman being together. Why else would they have left the obvious "their prolonged engagement?" Richard was going to leave anyway.

Well, he should have saved us the trouble and not used him at all- b/c there's a bigger complication b/c Jason believes Richard to be his father so you really can't just get rid of him. THe obstacle is not Richard it's that Jason, Lois and Richard all believe that Richard is Jason's father. If it was just Richard he wouldn't have been around at the end of SR.

In very broadstrokes.

So, in a scenario where Lois breaks it off with Richard for her own reasons, Superman isn't the bad guy. Lois is single again, and Jason knows Richard isn't his father. Richard is still apart of Jason's life(being the nice )guy that he is). Done.
