Batman Begins WB promoting Superman Returns more than Begins?

No , Warner Bros. is promoting Superman Returns, the same way they did for BATMAN BEGINS .

Yeah it is also being horribly promoted the same way Batman Begins was.I fail to understand why Batman Begins was not the same kind of all out promotions that Batman 89 or the spiderman movies got. That just shows that a not so good comicbook movie can do great at the box office with clever promotions.Batman 89 had like 1 year promotions going for it with posters in the theaters a year before its release and you could not go anywhere in public without seeing batman commercial tie ins everywhere you went, same with spiderman.Bot so with Begins and not so with Superman Returns either. For those reasons I think it will suffer the same fate as Batman Begins did and just barely do over 200 mill.

Suffer?

Batman Begins was a huge success.....the only thing it suffered from was the crap that came before it 6 years earlier.

Batman is a tough character to market, especiallly a film like Begins. I mean....how do you market a film that is a mix between action/drama/suspense/thriller with a character that stupid ass parents THINK is just for kids??

It's impossible to market a film like that on the level of SR without some kind of backlash.....especially thse parental groups that think any little thing will screw they're kid up for life.

Superman Returns is like the Spider-Man franchise.......it's really a family film.

Batman Begins is more like X-MEN or X-2 (Last Stand....no..) where it's darker, grittier and much more somber......it's not easy to just stick that on ceral boxes, soda cans, and everything else b/c it could seem a little heavy.

Plus.....Batman is a franchise that nearly died......it's best to sneak back into the films biz and be a surprise.....instead of crash landing into it.

Hey, it worked.

You gotta consider that Begins was more riskier because of Batman & Robin and clearly from the outset when developing the project they were more concerened about credibilty (Casting Bale, getting vetran actors, having Goyer look at Batman titles for inspriation). Plus the Box Office had that slump so they were treading waters carefully. They succeeded and now its more about creating a credible franchise that's stands the test of time rather than hoping for a Spider-man or a Batman 89 craze. Besides WB didnt need to put all there money in one franchise to bank (Harry Potter, other DC titles etc) so that one was for the fans and showed they could make good comic titles (which was a problem early on)

With Superman it's easier for accessiablity because of lightness but even when it was in development hell there was always an intention to make it a bigger more promoted blockbuster. They can also thank Begins and Marvel titles like Spidey and X-Men for making the greenlight more available and sponsors help promote it.
