The WBs President pretty much says the Sequel is set for 2009 with Singer returning & that they have faith in him. I guess when the Sequel does happen Singer is returning

I'm not too sure I believe them. Do they really want to do this whole vague sequel thing again?

I didn't find this movie to be emotional, I just found it to be boring. If they make a sequel I just hope Singer is not on board

Horn Planning Superman Sequel for 2009
Source: Los Angeles Times
August 18, 2006

Warner Bros. Pictures President Alan Horn talked to the Los Angeles Times about the performance of Superman Returns and echoed director Bryan Singer's comments from Comic-Con that they are hoping for a sequel in 2009:

Horn expects "Superman Returns" to eventually gross about $400 million worldwide, more than last year's hit "Batman Begins." Nonetheless, "Superman" fell at least $100 million short of his expectations.

"I thought it was a very successful movie, but I think it should have done $500 million worldwide," Horn said. "We should have had perhaps a little more action to satisfy the young male crowd."

Still, he's betting Warner has firmly reestablished the "Superman" franchise and is planning another installment for summer 2009.

Looks like WB is satisfied enough to bankroll another sequel, of course if Horn gets the axe, all bets are off, but Last year was great for WB, and next year looks to be solid, so he might not get the knife. Singer stays on to remake Superman II....yea!

Haha, beat me to it. Anyway looks like the sequel is a go. But if Singer comes back he better deliver a bit more.

Can someone point me to a concrete article where Jeff Robinov or Alan Horn say "Bryan Singer is going to direct the Superman sequel"?

If they make the sequel it will have more action! That's a good sign! I can't wait for that. I don't care what happens I want to see Routh in the suit, hopefully it will have a bigger "S" and lots of action. I think they can do the movie for about 140 if they don't cut an hour worth of film like they did in SR. I'll be looking for it and hopefully it has better marketing...just look at SM3. Great job there!

makes you wonder what really screwed Superman Returns...

I don't know what to think. You have a movie here, that will not break 200 million, no where close. And they want the director back for a sequel ? ( shakes head ). Oh well, if that is what they want all I can say is good luck. It's there money to throw away, not mine. And if they are doing it to keep Singer away from Fox. . How stupid. They deserve what they get.

The movie didn't break 200 mill domestic, but it did do a LOT better than they anticipated overseas. Any movie that makes 350 mill worldwide is not a failure and WILL make money.

They still have dvd and retail sales to fall back on. It looks as if WB considers the rough part of the road behind them now, and sequels to be pretty much smooth sailing.

I can't say I disagree.

If you think this board is bad now between people who liked & did not like the Movie. If Singer uses Zod this place will be well over runned by pissed off Fan Boys (I would be one of them) if Zod is used in any form. Its one thing to simply mention his name but if we see him then you damn Singer. 2009 will make this place look good then the way it is now

Nah, I think it underachieved domestic and did what expected overseas. They must have expected SR to make X2 or The Rock numbers overseas. But it did magnificent in Asia, especially China.

The incredible thing is... that thing cost like one third of SR's budget and it still had a cast with bigger earnings than SR's... I wonder WTF did they do with SR's budget...:(

I know, believe me. After seeing that movie my mouth was watering for singer's superman with a huge budget, barely any spent on big names, prettymuch all for some of the greatest and most amazing action and visuals beyond anything we've seen in recent memory. It'd be like sky captain but BIGGER AND, more expensive. :( I guess that's part of why this return to donner's superman/sequel/"take the same journey" thing was such a crushing dissapointment for me. You just don't take that money, combined with this once in a lifetime opportunity, and rehash an old movie while sort of continuing the nearly three decade old story (sort of because even so, it's not really a sequel. It's something 'else'). *bangs fist on desk*

Thank god for Nolan.

I'm going to put that INWT thing in my sig now. I'll definitely be first in line for a fresh batman movie, not some recycled one.

Yessssssssssssssss We’re getting our batman and robin….. SINGER go destroy Superman Forever so we can have a whole new restart 10 yrs later
