I don't know anymore. I know that JK is writing the script for the first one so there's hope. And she herself can add new material

:wow:

Hmm maybe she is extending it to include more story... I mean she has to if the book is only 128 pages.

If she wasn't involved I would have had no faith. :oldrazz:

Obviously she's extending things, the book is practically a pamphlet...

Yeah, isn't the book basically a "textbook," not an actual narrative? Of course they need to expand on it.

I still want my How to Survive a Robot Uprising movie.

Yeah. There is no narrative in the book. Its just a textbook that has details on various magical beasts and there are notes and doodles written by Harry in the margins.

She said herself she wasn't expecting to write the script. She sat down to write a detailed background for Newt for the writers to work with, and she found herself writing a rough draft of the script. She did it in twelve days, which is a fast turnaround.

I'm actually surprised she was able to do that while writing her Cuckoo's Calling series. She always seems like a "one-project-at-a-time" person, not a multitasker.

I don't think she'll be writing the second and third movies though. She'll probably do a story outline for them to work with, though.

Good. He's not Cuaron, but he's the next best thing.

Well, it'll have the same feel I guess so continuity wise it works. I was thinking they'd go for someone with a different vibe.

Well, at the very least this film is in good hands. JK Rowling writing the script, Heyman producing I assume, and Yates directing. Excitement officially at level 10!

This could be very good or very bad. We shall see.

Both of ya shush.:o Im tryin to be excited and thangs over here.

I'm happy with Yates back, no complaints whatsoever.

I wasnt a fan of HBP or OotP both directed by Yates, but I loved DH1. So Im a bit on the fence with this but I have faith in him. Although I didnt really like those two that much I wouldnt call them bad films by any stretch of the imagination

I'm excited about this just because I love Harry Potter, but Yates is no Cuaron.

I like OotP and the DH moves, and though I disliked the look of HBP, I thought it was okay.

Yates is a good option, and I think he's going to be judged more fairly considering it's going to be loosely based off a source material that's not too long, which presents many story opportunities.

Yates isn't Cuaron, but we weren't going to get Cuaron anyway, so the fact he's not Cuaron doesn't matter.

And Yates is better than some unknown first time director who's only previous work is some music video or other crap. We'd be completely in the dark about what to expect with a director like that, but with Yates we have some assurance that the directing will be good at least. And the world, its design, and the presentation of the magic will have consistancy with whats come before. And with Yates he has a well established relationship with Heyman and WB and JK trusts him and he has delivered four successful Harey Potter films. So we dont have to worry about any fighting or problems between the director and WB.

This announcement should put a lot of concerns to rest.

Nooooooooooo, my least favorite director from the HP series.

Excitement decreased by 50%

This is not what I wanted but it could be worse. I don't want this to feel like Yates' Potter films though, so hopefully it won't. Fantastic Beasts needs to look and feel more colorful and fun than the last three Potter novels in my opinion.
