It doesn't feel good to be accused of things does it. I don't like to be called irrational.
But you are acting irrational. I mean you started by saying you expected to be attacked and didn't care what others thought. You are saying we are saying things we aren't saying.

He was probably like "Well, he's going to have to deal with a lot worse than that as The Chosen One."

This is an actual quote:

Rowling said:
"Dumbledore believes there are all sorts of lessons in life...horrible teachers like Snape are one of them!

Dumbledore is another horrible person who gets a lot of slack. :funny:

Too true. It's sad. I really want to like Dumbledore, but he was an incredibly irresponsible person at best.

I can't help your kids will be kids mentality. Tell that to the people who lose their life from their little harmless actions.
They were teenagers and know right from wrong.

Teenagers may know right from wrong, but they often aren't mature enough to make the right decisions. That doesn't excuse the Marauders' actions, but it does put them in context.

I know it's all fictional and nerdy, but it is irrational.

Yes, accusing everyone in here of being bullies is very rational. :funny:

I was bullied, and went through a great amount of depression over it. But that doesn't change the story we are talking about here.

I was bullied off and on as well.

Teenage brains are still in development. They literally have less judgement then adults.

I have seen this in Harry Potter fandom many times before but it doesn't stop me from stating my view points. That makes me irrational. I'm not anymore irrational than you guys. Bringing Harry vs Snape and other things into this conversation all just to defend James.

People get personal when they can't win arguments I guess. There like 4 to 1 here. No need to get personal otherwise I will respond in kind.

I never said James should be bullied in return.

I said that you said he deserved to die.

I just said I'm glad he is dead which is okay opinion to have against fictional character you don't like.
But why you feel that way doesn't, in my opinion, make sense. You're happy James was killed because he bullied Snape as a young man, but how do you feel about Snape doing the same thing years later as a grown man?

Sirius didn't seem he grew out of it...
Sirius spent over a decade in the presence of the physical embodiment of depression. He was mentally unhinged in a way James never was. You can't compare the two.

You are confronting this like it is some sort of mob you consistently must battle against. We are all individuals, and responding as such. Setting us up as this imagery Fandom you argue with is pretty irrational.

Snape suffered a lot of mental damage too from his home life, from school, etc. I don't see people taking that into account of how he turned up as an adult. We don't grow up in a vacuum.

But you think James did? That he just came out of the womb a bully? It works both ways.

Whatever man.

Between the hormons and the underdeveloped pre frontal cortext its a wonder teens arent a bigger mess than they are.

Plenty are and it is one of the reasons why school can be so horrible.

I don't think a mentally impaired wizard could fool Lord Voldemort into thinking he was on his side for as long as Snape did. Nor could they be as accomplished at Potions or wizardry in general. There is no comparison between Snape and Sirius.

I don't see people taking that into account of how he turned up as an adult.
Because his upbringing doesn't excuse his actions. Snape lost the right to complain about getting bullied the minute he became a bully.

We don't grow up in a vacuum.
You're examining James' actions in a vacuum. You can't have it both ways.

Anyways, y'all aren't going to change my mind and I'm not going to change yours so this argument is really pointless. We hijacked this thread enough already.
Peace out.

After seeing the first images of Eddie as the character, we need a new list. The 7 most punchable faces in the Harry Potter filmverse. :hehe:

1. Eddie Redmayne

6. Eddie Redmayne

:o

"I don't like his face" is such a stupid, shallow, petty complaint.

Snape was a childish petty git. This is Snape in a nutshell:

Snape: "Waaaaa I was picked on! Im gonna take all my emo angst out on an innocent kid who resembles the girl I can't get over and the man who used to give me magical wedgies. Waaaaa!"

Snape could infiltrate a thousand evil oginizations and it wouldnt excuse his behavior throughout the books.

James may have been a git in school, but he outgrew it and became a good man who died for his family and for the wizarding world. Snape never grew up and he joined the death eaters and leaked the information that sent Voldemort after Lilly, James and Harry and the only reason he ever abandoned voldemort is because his desire to bone Lilly outweighed his desire to be Voldemort's *****. Snape is the definition of ****head.
