WB's 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' original script by J.K. Rowling

I'd be open to a series about James potter and the rest of the marauders when they went to school.

Not sure how good thatd be. We know the Marauders got up to hijinx, but they didnt really have anything major happen while they were at school. Id much rather have a film about the First War with Voldemort when James and Lilly were in the Order. Or Maybe a film about the Hogwarts founders. Or a film about Grindelwalds reign of terror. The books say his duel with Dumbledore was the single greatest duel ever witnessed so thatd be amazing on screen. Or a film about an Auror such as a Mad Eye Moody film.

The Harry Potter universe is ripe for the picking.

I mean she created a big ass universe with this thing, and could expand it easily into tv shows, cartoons and other movies if she wanted. She gotta sign off on all that **** though even if WB owns it.

Idk if Id want it spread across that many different platforms but I most definitely want more from that universe. Its one of the most popular universes in literature and it appeals to a wide demographic of all ages. Its my personal favorite fantasy universe and as long as Rowling and WB pump out quality stories that dont contradict or mess up establiahed canon then Im on board.

A young dumbledore/ grindlewald movie or show would be cool, you've already got the romance angle :o

Lover turned enemy, conqueror turned hero. DUMBLEDORE. ::lightning strike, Harry potter theme on organ::

That one, please. :)

I just cannot wait for this film, I've been watching Harry Potter films this week, 1 film per day and ugh! I miss the world of Harry Potter so much! I hope this trilogy spin-off turns out to be great!

Is there some sort of a spell or magic happening around the world because I find myself watching the films this last couple of weeks too! I haven't read the books but I like a story that is set in a rich universe and has its own mythology like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

And I'm watching the series in a jumbled way. I started with GOF then OOTP, HBP and DH Part 1, then COS, POA, I haven't rewatched Sorcerer's and DH part 2 yet but I plan to see the first film first before watching the last.

WBs intention with this franchise was one of consistency from the very beginning. It wasnt about having a fresh take everytime. They asked Columbus back for POA. They asked Cuaron back for GOF. And they asked Newell back for OOTP. The only reason Yates has directed so many is because he has said yes everytime WB has asked him back, and WB will keep asking him back because they know he will keep doing them. WB wants this franchise to be a well oiled machine. A new director with a new take potentially brings troubles with them. So if Yates said yes to this film there is a very good chance that he will say yes to directing all of them and WB is going to likely ask him back for all of them. They dont want a new director everytime, and theyve made that clear at this point.
Keep in mind that we need to separate the upcoming trilogy from the Potter franchise because it ended years ago and this is something new. There should not be more need for consistency than between Star Trek: Nemesis (the last with TNG crew) and Abrams' Star Trek.

Its set in the same universe, the scripts are writren by Rowling, and its helmed by the same director as the last four. Clearly WB is viewing this as an extension of the previous films and wants consistency. If it aint broke... In the marketing they will no doubt want to be able to play up the connection, and you can be damn sure that in the trailer its gonna say "From director David Yates...Director of Deathly Hallows " That will sell the film much better than it being from some unknown director. Also as far as I know Heyman is still producing. He's gonna approach these films the same way he approached the last 8. And since Yates has proven himself by now and was chosen for this film he's most likely gonna be WBs go to guy for these films. Unless Yates has some once in a life time project come along or is just fed up with this franchise by the end of directing this film, you can bet money that he will be back for the next film. And even if he steps down from directing the next or last film, WB will most likely keep him on as a producer.

Point is WB wants this to work, and they have a winning formula. Dont expect them to tweak it much.

This trilogy isnt a reboot like Abrams Star Trek was. This trilogy is based on a story by Rowling that is set in the same timeline and continuation as the Potrer films. Its nothing like Abrams Star Trek films.

You know I wouldn't be surprised if WB starts their second cinematic universe franchise with Harry Potter. It makes too much damn sense.

The problem of doing something like that is you know that the begging for a post-DH movie with (at least) the core three would be so incessant that Rowling and Co. would end up regretting ever doing this in the first place. :funny:

That is because it should so happen.

I wouldn't say no, but Radcliffe's stance seems pretty definitive to me, and Watson's getting around and Grint is doing his own thing. There's always a chance that, like, ten years down the line, they start to feel nostalgic and Rowling has an idea in mind, but in the meantime...

But I didn't want the same director. I think it's a bad idea.

For me, I would like to see the formation of the school of Hogwards.

I do strongly believe Rowling will write an eighth book. If not Harry Potter than something in that world. It's her baby and it's not something you can just separate yourself from after all those years working on it, and the journey it took her on with her life. I give it before the decade ends we could see something. I'm sure she's happy doing her books now, but this series is too big for those to overtake it for the rest of her writing career. That's a bold statement but I wouldn't be surprised if Rowling is constantly flirting with ideas. Namely Harry and his friends's adult lives.

I'd like to read a book about the Hogwarts founders. Or perhaps, the American school and how it is different from Hogwarts.

She better hurry up if she's going to do a sequel book...a lot of the older actors are really old.

So, when's the release date for this? November 2016? That means we should see casting probably in the first half of 2015, yes?

Yep.:) Can't wait to see who they cast. The Harry Potter films always had a fantastic British cast, and I hope that these films are cast just as well.
