Marvolo: Jude Law comes to my mind.

Another choice can be Jonathan Rhys-Meyers.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers is persona non grata at most studios these days. He has a very serious alcohol addiction. He caused a lot of trouble when he was on Showtime's The Tudors. The producers of NBC's Dracula wouldn't even pay him his per episode salary, because they were afraid he would spend his paycheck on alcohol and not show up for work. They withheld his pay until after all the episodes were shot, and put him under strict conditions. Unfortunately this plan didn't exactly work and he still managed to show up to work drunk and he had a breakdown and had to be hospitalized. He caused trouble during filming of From Paris with Love and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones as well. WB won't put him in the lead role of this film.

No way..he even had problems with Dracula? I thought he claimed that he cleaned up. That sucks.

When people with talent got demons, it's not a good combo.

He had a drinking problem when he did Dracula. It was actually blood and not alcohol.

I kid, I kid.

Wow so everyone dislikes Redmayne now huh?
Go figure.:o
I'd actually be perfectly happy with him in the role.

I don't hate him. He just does nothing for me, and that's a valid issue I have with him. Not a bandwagon hatred or anything.

I haven't seen Theory of Everything, but I thought Redmayne was good in Les Mis.

I think it stemmed from him lobbying the Oscars, as we fanboys thought these "thespians" were above such things. Save that for the Sandlers of the world. But hey, no matter how good you are, everybody wants to win. :o

I don't get why we should care about that. Yea, he wanted an award....so?

If you believe Keaton wasn't lobbying too you're in denial.
It's not like Redmayne came out of the blue and took the Oscar. He also won The Golden Globe, The Bafta and The SAG...yeah I guess he does "something" for some people.

If Redmayne was a better actor, he wouldn't have come off so fake at the Oscars. It was Jlaw falling everywhere bad.

Lol, 2/3 of the dislike of Redmayne comes from him wanting the Oscar "too much".

I think he is an ok actor. Was a bigger fan of him as a person before the Oscars. His acceptance speech turned me off completely.

Haven't actually seen any of Redmayne's work, so can't comment on his acting, but I really would've loved to have Matt Smith in this. I need him to be in more movies, you guys. It's for my health :csad:.

I wasn't even aware something happened at the Oscars. What did he do?

Some people disliked the way Redmayne was apparently hardcore lobbying for Oscar votes, making personal phone calls and such.

Lol some people need to remember that film is a business and these actors are in a career. Most actors lobby...well most that aren't trying to pretend they don't care bout the oscars. And why shouldn't they? Winning an Oscar is a massive boon to their career. Hell if I was an actor I'd be lobbying for an Oscar and have zero shame about doing so.

So would most or all of the people hating on Redmayne for doing it.

Oh you better believe that they'd be lobbying their asses off if they were in his position. Really such "complaints" just make me roll my eyes for that very reason.

I will never be able to take Redmayne seriously after Jupiter Ascending. I crack up just hearing his name.
