Unfortunately, yes. :csad:

But it seems that means no Josh Gad either.

Farrell will play Graves, a wizard that Newt Scamander (Redmayne) meets in New York. The story centers on Newt's adventures in the secret community of witches and wizards as he attempts to document magical creatures. The events of Fantastic Beasts take place70 years before Harry Potter reads Newt's book in school.

 Interesting casting.

Yeah, this is the first bit of casting that's interested me.

I'm not a HP fan, but will have to check it out now with Colin Farrell on board. When he is given good material, he can act with the best of them.

Colin Farrell, is his character supposed to be from Ireland or of Irish heritage?

That just reminded me of something!

^Not in Farrell's role!

What if Graves is an Irishman and Seamus' great grandfather? That would tie the trilogy even more to the HP franchise.

I'd rather they avoid that kind of small universe thing.

Very cool that Farrell is in.

I also don't see a need to tie his character to Seamus though.

Are they going to let him be Irish? Or are they going to make him do an American accent again?

The casting for the HP spinoff is baffling. Is J.K. Rowling being less hands-on than she was when the studio cast Harry, Ron and Hermione back in 2000?

Katherine Waterston and Ezra Miller are the only actors that have intrigued me in a good way.

Baffling? Really?

The casting of Dan, Emma, and Rupert was all Columbus and Heyman. Not Rowling. In fact Rowling has more involvement in this trilogy due to her being the scriptwriter.
