I posted this way back in the earlier pages, however as I feel it pertains to the current discussion I am sharing it once again:

Immortality should not be confused with agelessness. A person can live forever but still reflect (to a far lesser degree) the passage of time. If we are basing DC's 'immortality look' on say for instance their Kingdom Come counterparts, Superman and Wonder Woman both look 'older' than their current young selves, carrying a maturer look to them. They are not 'petrified' immortal in terms of how vampires are often portrayed.

Hippolyta was already a mature 'cavewoman' when she was granted immortality by the Gods. They did not reverse time for her but rather ****** the aging process. At present she is suppose to be roughly about 32,000 years old. Casting a 'young looking' 40s actress (and date I say early 50s actress) I feel would deliver the quality of the character that we all hope to see Hippolyta portrayed as.

Through the miracle of modern technology and brilliant make-up artists, a number of the 'older' actresses can easily look 10 years younger on film to play the part of Queen Hippolyta.

The perfect Hippolyta for me was as the one depicted in the Wonder Woman 2009 film. Still young enough to join in battle herself but still old enough to exude wisdom and maturity.

And we all know Lucy has all that and more.

Speaking of the film, I really liked Rosario Dawson's voice work for Artemis, and would over look her being the wrong color to see her play her in live action.

And Gina Torres as General Phillipus because duh.

I 100% agree with this casting! And Lucy Lawless looks great as both a brunette and a blonde. But, it will probably be considered stunt casting and therefore avoided to prevent the general audience going: "Hey Xena is Wonder Woman's mum, that's cool".

And Dawson is in the Daredevil Netflix series.
And honestly, it's only a matter of time before Torres gets a role at Marvel as well.

Well Dawson is working for BOTH companies...don't forget she is voicing Wonder Woman herself in the next DC animated original movie..."Justice League: Throne of Atlantis"! So anything is possible.

I know, that's what sucks about it. But it wont look like 'Xena as Wonder Woman's mom' on screen because (for example) Lucretia is nothing like Xena. I watched an episode of Spartacus and Xena back to back one day and it hardly felt like I was even watching the same actor.

Lucy voiced Wonder Woman in the Justice League New Frontier animated film. So DC nabbed her first.

Lynda Carter is stunt casting no doubt. If Lucy had done Xena and nothing else, than yeah, I would put her in the same category. But since Xena she's delivered two memorable (and completely different) characters in Battlestar Galactica and Spartacus.

Whereas Lynda Carter hasn't done much or is known as anything other than Wonder Woman. Her fan casting as Hippolyta is literally for that reason alone. She's an okay actress and primarily benefits from being the only live action WW to exist for the past 40 years.

Anyway, shouldn't Hippolyta look mature? Her looking the same age as Diana would be a big mistake.

I'd go for Monica Belluci. She realistically seems like she could be the mother of Gal Gadot.

Don't want Kate Winslet in the role. She doesn't seem old enough to be Gal's mother. Yes, maybe Amazons don't age, but I think the audience need to see a mother who is older. Winslet just looks like a random unrelated woman next to Gal.

Belluci's time for these parts in CBM's has past. Yes, Hippolyta should be older looking but she too must be youthful enough that you buy her as a warrior herself, capable of getting in there and fighting alongside Diana if need be. Winslet? Umm... I don't see it in the least. Sorry.
