We are one

We are the Borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

After 10,000 years of human civilization acting like the scum of the universe there's people still convinced world peace is possible...

Laughter is irrelevant. You will be assimilated.

I'd like to assimilate her.

Scum of the universe is a pretty big title. So far were just scum of the planet. People change.

And if we all give up hope, than all hope will be lost. Our belief in peace is what makes it possible. This is an issue where just believing really matters. It's only impossible if we all believe it's impossible, but so long as there are people with hope, it remains possible.

I'm devoting my life to trying to increase the chances of it happening. You should do it too. The more the merrier. Just look at yourself, look at your life, and say some things are bigger than me, and I'm going to devote my life to trying to increase the chances of it happening, even if it takes a life's work and it only increases the chances by 1/1000 of a percent, it will be a life well spent. And on your death bed, you can look at your life with pride, knowing that your life wasn't wasted, and you were part of the solution and not part of the problem. You werne't just a regular citizen too concerned with his own trivial life to make a difference.

People change, the human race doesn't. In 10,000 years (as long as civilization's been around) the human race has murdered billions, killed tens of thousands of species and is slowly changing the planet's climate for the worse.

Also, unless you've made it your goal to become a career political I doubt you're going to change much of anything. The people who manage to affect the world the most are usually the people who never intended to.

I have made that my goal. but there are other things you can do. Just search your mind, and think of something you can do, and then do it. Write a book. Become an activist. Think of solutions, and spread the word, even if it's door to door. Contact the media. Run for office. Donate money.

Expand your mind, day dream, brain storm, and you will find your path.

Maybe your the type to take out a loan, get some student grants, go to college, and become a geneticist to try and help fight world hunger. Or a scientist who helps NASA go to the stars. Or an economist who eliminates world hunger with a brilliant plan. Or a scientist who creates revolutionizing solar panels.

The more that try the more likely good things are to happen.

There's millions of people just like that already, haven't noticed any change.

You didn't notice that gays are getting married, slavery ended, women have equal rights, and me and you are allowed to express our beliefs?

That is results.

I'm one hundred percent neutral about gay marriage, I could give a damn...

Women's rights were brought on from pissed off feminists not idealistic scientists.

Slavery was going to end eventually no matter what, luckily people like Abraham Lincoln ended before the slaves ending up revolting.

some men believed in women rights. There was a time when only men could vote. You think that if absolutely no men supported their right to vote, even when laughed by their fellow men, it ever would have changed?

From the episode "No Compromises" in the series Babylon 5:

The Universe speaks in many languages, but only one voice.
The language is not Narn or Human or Centauri or Gaim or Minbari.

It speaks in the language of hope. It speaks in the language of trust.
It speaks in the language of strength, and the language of compassion.
It is the language of the heart and the language of the soul.
But always it is the same voice.

It is the voice of our ancestors speaking through us.
And the voice of our inheritors waiting to be born.
It is the small, still voice that says we are One.

No matter the blood, no matter the skin,
No matter the world, no matter the star,
We are One.
No matter the pain, no matter the darkness,
No matter the loss, no matter the fear.
We are One.

Here, gathered together in common cause
We agree to recognize this singular truth and this singular rule:
That we must be kind to one another.

Because each voice enriches us and ennobles us,
And each voice lost diminishes us.
We are the voice of the universe, the soul of creation,
The fire that will light the way to a better future.

We are One.

There's a big difference between women's rights and world peace.

There's a big difference between women's rights and world peace.

The difference beween a cup and a gallon. You say the human race can't change, and point to the fact that for 10,000 years we have done horrible things, but then ignore the massive change that has taken place.

More like a thimble and an ocean.

World peace is unachievable.

Women rights is not as insignifigant as a thimble, and your downplaying it is disrespectful to America, and really just ungrateful.

It's not impossible for man to walk on the moon, and it's not impossible for humans to co exist peacefully.

In the broad scheme of things, it's pretty damn insignificant to relation to world peace. And don't talk to me about being disrespectful to America.

No matter what, man will find a reason to hate each other. It's in our nature.
