World Web shooter shop class - Part 3

What happened to the web formula thread?

People stopped posting to it. We tried to keep the two separated, but it was just plain impossible; all the new people that came in would just come to this one by default, so that one disappeared.

Hey guys.

I was thinking you guys don't look too organized. So I returned. :P
*crickets*

Alright, nobody remembers me, because I only posted about twice. But still.

First of all, it's impossible to web swing around a big city with normal arm strength.

There are two realistic functions of a webshooter. One is to glue and the other is to grab with a string and pull. Those two should be worked on.

End of story.

Welcome back, TheGearMan and Hii.

@TheGearMan: I agree with you on both fronts man. I personally am looking for a variable nozzle or system which would allow for an interchanging between the two functions.

btw, the reason it looks like we never post here is because we for the most time talk on a chat room wadaltmon made. Due to security reasons, please pm him for the link.

Hello there! You may call me Gear. Putting "the" in front of a name just sounds odd.

Yeah. I recently came across a spray foam called "Great Stuff" and it made me think of you guys.

I may not be around a lot, but I'll PM you for the link to the chat thing just in case I will be.

It's sad how dead this thread seems. Did we ever figure out a working formula to the web? I've been checking on RealTechWebs recently and it's pretty much not changed.

I think that I will make a new project update video sometime soon to show the new designs for the WDM 3.0.

Finally got someone genuinely new on the chat room called Xena. Just missed our alloted time to chat after seeing the Hobbit... who knew it was almost 3 hours? So, if you happen to see this, I would love to set up a new time. Anyone is welcome to pitch in and give some insight, feel free.

Interested in hearing - just how far along are you guys?

I'm not too smart but since everyone really wants to swing (especially me)
I got an idea on how to swing. What if we had a strength enhancement like what they have in exo suits just smaller and would be lightweight
to take the stress of the force of gravity or whatever.

Well that would be good, but chances are we can't do it. Not by ourselves, at least. The darn military is working on it and can't get enough battery life.

So yeah, maybe later on, but right now it's not likely.

while that might be a little unrealistic, how about I mention something that isn't? I was thinking of starting another thread about it if enough people were interested, but a way to sort of swing that's possible is the 3DMG from the TV show "Attack on Titan". (BTW, I don't recommend watching if under the age of 13, its a bit graphic.) I've done the math, and if you have a body harness rigged up similar to how the show has it, you could swing like they do. Now the only problem would be devising a strong enough winch. Well, as they say, youth will find solutions to things impossible to the previous generation. If you're curious about the maneuvering physics and don't quite get a good enough idea of it from the show, here is a free no-signup browser game you can play to try it yourself.

ALSO, while it would be possible to swing around with these, you would need to be an extremely fit person and would need to undergo training for some time. But still, it's possible. If you're interested in the concept of how the device would work, here's the fake show schematics. While it wouldn't work in real life, the mechanical concepts are surprisingly realistic. Even I agree that there are things to be learned from looking at them.

Just something I felt like throwing together for those of you who'd really like to swing. I know that I'm always around saying "THAT'S NOT POSSIBLE!", but its not like I like crushing dreams in my spare time. I just want to tell you guys the facts. And also, make sure you newer guys listen to wadaltmon, spider44, and spider, man. They've been here for a while and for the most part know what they're talking about. Not that you all can't have better ideas than us. Just remember, take the time to learn from the people around you. That's the whole point of this thread in the first place! :woot:

we'll Gear man I kind of forgot that the military was developing them and the power problem slipped my mind too. I've wrote down an idea for the strength enhanceer while wishing I had super strength one day.I need to find that.
