Even though the movie didn't end with them all moving into a sorority house with each other and having pillow fights, yes, they are now a team.
This is not the comics. This is the MCU. They are a team in their team up movies and operate on solo missions in their solo movies. The movie spells it out for you that they will return when needed, so always an "Avenger" whether they're together or not. They will not have to be re-scouted or analyzed for worthiness again.
Rock, your example of the LA Lakers; no they don't have to live together to be a team, but practicing, having the same goals to achieve, defining their roles fully etc does. And at this point The Avengers characters are not a team yet.
I DO believe that there are obvious suggestions that they WILL be a team at some point. But in this film, no.
Again, my opinion. Argue it, fine - Don't get upset because it's not the same as yours...
I could never be upset about it so please, don't flatter yourself.
You're getting into some serious extremely campy territory now ..... training together? Are we going to get an 80's style montage complete with the comeback track "Eye of the Bilchsteim" from the band Survivor??? I think you have the wrong film if you're expecting that. Any kind of training or "team building" will be indirect like you saw with the Helicarrier sequence.
The whole point of the NYC battle was that they finally came together as a team and once again Fury attests that when Earth needs them they will return to fight together.
So in the X-Men movies, when they had the Danger Room sequence or in XM:FC when they were learning to use their powers, this was obviously an 80s-style montage?![]()
I agree with Bren and zentype. Joss Whedon said so himself that they didn't make Captain America shout "Avengers assemble" because there wasn't a time and place that it felt right. Looking back, it was a good call. Sure, I would have gotten nerd goosebumps if Captain America shouted, "Avengers assemble" (maybe during the group circle shot) in the movie, but I believe it would be even better in the sequel when they join forces once again.
I don't think so, I feel if they were a team, they would all stay together. They're more like what Nick Fury called them a "response team". When the **** gets really ******, they form back together. Till then, everyone does their own thing.
You're missing the point, so clearly you're still in the dark. Of course they can function as a team. The question is whether they are a formal team or one who just band together in times of emergencies.
Good god, I think over half of the people in this thread have never read an Avengers comic in their life.
Dark Raven was asking a simple and appropriate question: are the Avengers a formal group, like they are in the comics? And the answer is: so far, no.
In the comics, the Avengers are a full-fledged organization, with a central headquarters, an elected leader, bylaws, membership dues, a full-fledged UN Charter (which is online for your reading pleasure, should you choose to partake), the whole nine yards.
The Avengers in the MCU are, so far, just a group of heroes who banded together for a single mission then went back on their separate ways. I'm sure they'll formally organize in Avengers 2, and we'll start to see more signs of that, like an Avengers Mansion or Triskelion or some such.
But again, short answer to your question, Dark Raven: No. For now.![]()
Oh, so that's why there was no "Avengers Assemble!" line from Cap. You have no idea how much I was looking forward to it and how disappointed I was when it never came. But at least Whedon explained why, and now I can look forward to it in Avengers 2
When the Avengers move into their new headquarters in the sequel, and they wind up with all this crappy Ikea furniture still in the boxes because Stark spent all his money on the building, then we'll hear Steve say, "Avengers, Assemble ... that jhurkeinflugen living room set."
