Wesley Snipes speaks about Blade 4

It may be a well-meaning rumor, but I suspect it's just that, until Kevin Feige says otherwise.

I'm not offended at Blade coming back in some form, but... Like I said, we'll see.

There is no way in hell that Marvel would hire back an actor from a previous studio's efforts to reprise that same role again.

All that does is further confuse the audience about what is canon and not canon in this universe, as well as impede Marvel's own ability to maintain a fresh sense of creativity with their properties.

Vincent D'Onofrio's recent interview should be evidence enough of that. He explicitly states that they are doing everything they can to give a new, fresh take on the Kingpin that has not been seen in previous films. Marvel obviously wants to put their own stamp on these franchises in order to truly make them their own.

Casting Snipes would be absolutely counter-intuitive to that effort.

And furthermore...why cast Snipes?! Sure, people associate him with the character to some extent, but he is notoriously difficult to work with and it was reportedly a near miracle that Blade: Trinity even happened what with Wesley's diva attitude.

There's plenty of other very talented black actors that deserve a chance to be put in the spotlight and put their own stamp on that character.

Snipes can go suck blood.

Plus it seems like the Blade from the comics was quite different then what we got in the movie, so although Snipes was very cool we could have something that isn't a carbon copy that comes off as fresh and fits into the canon of the MCU.

I can't understand people that cling to the hope that Snipes, Jane or Cage will reprise their roles within the MCU. It's over, done.

Yeah people should know by now that these guys are coming back. Same with jk Simmons, and whoever else people can't let go of.

This is bull. Can't see Snipes coming back and I hope when it is rebooted it's not brought into the MCU. Blade has a different tone to them films.

I love the first two Blade films. There some of my favourite CBM's.

I vehemently disagree with you there. I want to see an MCU just as wild, bizarre, and diverse as the comic universe. Plus, the MCU only benefits from varied tones. It keeps things fresh.

And frankly, I don't think Marvel Studios ever intends on releasing anything in theaters or on TV that doesn't fit within the MCU. They've worked damn hard to make this shared, cohesive universe and they want to use it!

Yeah, I hope blade is brought in and helps contribute towards a midnight sons with GR and Strange.

YES!! I've been trumpeting either a Midnight Sons movie or Netflix series for a while now. :hubba

The way I see it happening is dr. Strange getting his movie, then possibly do a GR/Blade team up or introduce them in Dr. Strange 2. Then by the third movie do a full on midnight sons with those 3 and maybe moonknight.

Agree with that. Just because it has a different tone doesn't mean that it can't be in the same universe. Tbh if anything it will add another layer to the universe. If you scale down the budget a bit you could even make it a bit more adult (not sure how the ratings go in the US but) a 15 year old and over would be doable as a film. Or make a series on Netflix.

Despite being 52, Snipes definitely didn't look his age in Expendables 3 and he's hard up for cash so he won't be a position to bargain. I think we can get one more Blade out of him. I'd definitely be stoked to see him appear in an Avengers movie!

If it works out, he'll be the first non-MCU actor to reprise his role in the MCU!

This for the win!

I want a new Blade franchise really, really bad, but Snipes isn't the guy. I loved what he did with Blade, and those movies are pretty high on my guilt pleasure list, but it's time to pass the torch. If Marvel brings Blade back, lets give him some new blood (pun completely intended).

Marvel is not continuing a franchise that started under the banner of another studio. It will be their own version, some new blood with ties to the existing MCU. Wesley will simply be replaced.

I wouldn't mind Snipes being brought back if they did a Doctor Strange and the Midnight Sons movie and have Blade portrayed as a rugged veteran. But I think Marvel might want to reboot, which is completely fine.

Snipes would make a great T'Chaka though.

I agree with him as T'Chaka and that if MS does do something with the character of Blade they'll certainly want it to be a reboot. I don't expect them do do much with him anytime soon, though. Too much other stuff on their plate at this time.

I don't think we'll be seeing another Snipes Blade. Sounds like wishful thinking on Snipes part.

it would be a mistake to recast imo

either bring him back or dont do the character

Westley was good as Blade but he was not the end all be all. Thats like saying Keaton should've been the only batman.

There are plenty of fine actors that could do Blade justice and plenty of places the Blade franchise can go. Snipes is not required for the franchise to continue.
