In the novel of the first movie both of Peter's parents Richard & Mary Parker are spies like in The comics .

Interesting....didn't know that.They could easily mention Pete's parents without even bringing up their occupation.Just that their time came too soon.

There are a series of novels that go into detail regarding the life and dealth of Peter's parents.

To be honest, while it would be alright to mention them, other than just before the clone saga, when his parents "reappeared" ( only to be revealed as fakes(Amazing Spider-Man #388) they had very little direct impact upon the character.
