You know what I mean. Those moments in Comic Book flicks that reference scenes or dialogue from the source material that only longtime comic book fans would get. I'll start... (NOTE: Early entries spoiler blocked since these movies came out this year)

X-Men Days of Future Past

- Young Magneto mangling Wolverine with some lead piping. Not exactly yanking the adamantium from his bones like in the comic, but close enough.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

- Gwen Stacy's death. Knew it was coming, but still quite a shocker and just as tragic. :csad:

Captain America The Winter Soldier

- "Who the hell is Bucky?"

The Dark Knight Rises

- Bane breaking Batman's back. I was like :wow: I did not see that coming. I didn't think Nolan would go as far as using that classic scene from Knightfall as part of the movie's plot.

The Incredible Hulk

- Hulk turning a police car into boxing gloves. More of a shout out to the Ultimate Destruction game, but still great to see nonetheless. :yay:

The Avengers

- Hulk vs Thor. Considering how many times we've seen these two go at it in the comics, it was still a treat to see Whedon and company do it justice on the big screen.

That's all I can think of so far. Does anyone have anymore shout-out moments?

The best shout outs in recent memory were in Watchmen, so many shots from the film were straight out of the comic

- the smiley face badge in the pool of blood.
- the angel statute at the cemetary
- Dr. Manhattan's resurrection
- the raindrops in the puddles before Rorschach is captured
- the flapping door when Big Figure is killed
- Veidt's pose after he disarms the assassin.

and I could go on. All in all, at the very least a visual triumph by Snyder.

hmmmmm otherwise it's hard to say.

Have to agree with the Back break from TDKR, ouch !

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
Dr Doom steals Surfer's powers, a huge shout out to the old FF storyline.

Thinking waaayyy back, what about Green Goblin being impaled by his own
glider in Raimi's first Spider-Man film.

Or Doc Ock and Spidey fighting on the side of a building in Spider-Man 2.

and though the film as a whole was crap, some of the Hal Jordan /Sinestro scenes were a nice shoutout to anyone who has followed GL and is familiar with Sinestro (who was the best part of an otherwise crap film).

I'll try and think of some more.

^ Good call. Sin City too, so many shout outs to panels

Spider-Man 2 - Spider-Man no more

HULK - calming himself in Betty's presence

Kick Ass - Getting stabbed on first night out

X-Men Days of Future Past

Future Sentinels killing Storm with a spear (though not thrown)

Batman Begins - Batman calling the swarm of bats in to attack the SWAT team trying to capture him.

The Dark Knight - Batman, Dent, and Gordon on Police HQ rooftop by the batsignal teaming up to take down organized crime. Even doing the "He does that" bit when Batman disappears;

The Dark Knight Rises - The old Cop and young Cop seeing Batman's return "You're in for a show"

 Can't believe I forgot about that. That's a Shout-Out if I ever saw one.

Sinestro should have been the villain IMO. Instead of evil space cloud. :cmad:

Another one I remember.

Thor

- Thor pinning down Loki with Mjolnir. Great Walter Simonson reference there. :yay:
- "I would have words with my brother."

Spider-Man 3- Peter taking off the black suit in the church

The Dark Knight- Joker burning a bunch of cash.

Iron Man- Tony's escape from the terrorists, complete with the bulky Grey suit.

Thor-"Donald Blake"

I like when the Goblin threw his...thing around Spider-Man and carried him like on the comic cover.

Not sure if it happened in the comics but Spidey wakes up to find himself hanging upside down facing a skyscraper in a new suit...

Nice call ! I had forgotten about the cops in TDKR, very very much a shout out to DKR (wish Nolan had used a few more ideas from DKR),
and the Bats, totally from BY1.

Good spotting !

Thanks dude, that really got me when I first saw SM. Man, imagine if they'd used Gwen Stacy back then, that would have made the end of SM even more emotional.

yeah ! I used to own that issue. Nice spotting ! There must be quite a few Superman shout outs, I'll have to go looking.

Peace out Super-fans !

Nice link. And it proves that for all the **** Nolan gets, he references the original comic source material a lot in his films.

Exactly. In spite of his changes Nolan adhered to the comics the most with the Batman movies.

I've often seen that with CBMs. People call them In-accurate but usually all that means is they weren't accurate to the particular comics that audience member had in mind

ASM is a prime example. Criticised for not being accurate by not having the famous line but it was accurate to the version of that line in the Ultimate Comics.

Avengers was not accurate to Avengers with Widow and Hawkeye bring founding members, but it was accurate to The Ultimates.

I'm fairly certain that Hulks father issues were presented in the movie similar to the the comics, but people didn't really know because they hadn't remembered or read them.

I thought Amazing Spider-Man and Avengers borrowed elements from both 616 and Ultimate universe respectively. In ASM we had the webshooters and the wisecracking nature of Spidey that was indicative of 616. In Avengers it was Loki being the antagonist, as it was in the very first issue of the comic. And the heroes themselves are more in line with 616 counterparts rather than their Ultimate incarnations, who are kind of *******s anyway.

You know while looking for stuff to post, I've begun to realize that in the case of Superman, the comic makes references to the movies rather than other way around! Case in point:

Yeah, I didn't mean they as a whole were only accurate to one source but that often individual parts are based on different sources. Avengers was like a mix of Ultimate and 616 as was ASM with neither being completely accurate to one or the other.
