What comic to film casting did you never question?

What I mean is that over the last year alone, fans were shocked to learn that the Joker, Venom and Iron Man (to name a few) would be portrayed by Heath Ledger, Topher Grace and Robert Downey Jr respectively. Most fans never considered the aforemention actors and as a result, many complained for various reasons. Personally, I don't have a problem with any of those choices and maybe won't until I see the actual films.

My question is how often and in what instances did you not question the casting choices from the get go? Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Patrick Stewart as Professor X and (despite the irrelevant race issue) Michael Clark Duncan as the Kingpin for me stood out as excellent choices who's potential I could see right away.

What about you?

All the majors I've never really questioned. I always liked Affleck as Matt/DD (after CHANGING LANES particularly). The Robert Downey Jr news I LOVE.

If anything I'd say I questioned Eddie Furlong as THE CROW...and rightfully so ;)

Never doubted any Batman Begins casting news. Also never doubted Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor.

Duncan
Ferrell
Spacey
Mane
Jackman
Stewart!!!!!!
Snipes
Affleck
Janssen
Marsden
Cillian Murphy
Chiklis
Evans
O'donnell
Michael Jai White
Molina
Stamos

I never questioned Nicholson or Keaton either, but I didn't know much about Batman at the time.
And although I didn't end up liking the movie, I had no dounts about DeVito or Pfeiffer.

Casting I never for an instance doubted....
Patrick Stewart as Xavier
Kelsey Grammar as the Beast....although once I saw the movie I felt just a bit differently.

Ditto. Chiklis, Janssen, Spacey.. I thought pretty much everyone (except Holmes) was a great cast pick in Batman Begins from the start. Im not going to pretend I didnt question the Ledger choice at first, but now Im very excited to see how that turns out, same with Downey Jr. I Was also always very excited to see Bana as the Hulk. After seeing Chopper I knew that guy could do anything..

All of the Batman Begins casting, with the exception of Holmes, was fantastic.

I had doubts about Bale-largely b/c I'd been hoping for Guy Pierce.

The only casting that didn't take a moments thought to visualize was Ron Perlman as Hellboy

Forgot about Perlman. But from what I understand, Mignola wasn't going to give his blessing unless they got Perlman & Del Toro didn't wanna do it without Perlman. So he was everybody's choice.

I wasn't a fan of the film, but that role could not have been better cast in a million years

I don't think I've ever had any doubt about any comic book casting, I think despite the quality of some comic book movies, I've always approved of casting choices.

....'cept Jessica Alba...wasn't too keen on her being Susan Storm.

Truth be told, my only apprehension over Alba was purely cosmetic. At the time, I couldn't picture her as a blonde.

Kelsey Grammar
Patrick Stewart
Ben Foster (as Angel)
Michael Caine
Christian Bale
Hugo Weaving

Willem Dafoe - Green Goblin
Patrick Stewart - Prof. X
Wesley Snipes - Blade
Christian Bale - Batman
Kelsey Grammer - Beast

I question it. Heath Ledger as Joker? Doubt he can pull it off. Adrien Brody would have been a better choice. Tony Stark? While I like RDJ as an actor this is not the role for him. Ed Quinn from the ScI Fi Channel series Eureka would have made a bettr choice. And just to step back in time for a sec Wesley as T'challa/ Black Panther? try Djimon Hunzou <(i'm sur I spelld this wrong but You know exactly whom I speak of.)

I've gotten tired of arguing this. But let's stick to roles that have actually been cast & not speculative ones.

Michael Caine for Alfred. When I heard that I was like "yep" and that was the end of it :D

I try not to question. It's not really objective to question or write someone's interpretation of a character off, prior to viewing it.

I did have a 'WTF' moment when I heard Robert Downey's name, but he actually fits the mold of where an Iron-Man movie should go.
