Okay then.
I say the movie may take parts of the first 6 Ultimate books that where an extended look on Peter as a teen and his origins as Spider-Man, that we see bits and pieces of it sprinkled on the movie, getting the origin without really getting the origin.
- Ultimate Spider-Man (comics and cartoon)
- 616
- SSM (based on those who have said the portrayal of Peter/Spidey is reminiscent of that)
- A lot of original stuff.
http://www.craveonline.com/site/845723-exclusive-marvels-spider-man-reboot-not-origin-storyUltimate is great. I love Ultimate. We have the freedom to pull from anything, but I really like what [Brian Michael] Bendis did. A lot. That felt like… that was Peter Parker back in high school. And, spending as much time with his high school problems as it did with his superhero problems, which I think is really a lot of fun.
"Yeah. Sure, I think they did a lot of things really, really right. In particular the look of Spider-Man, and the emotion of Spider-Man, and the women in his life. I think there are a lot of things they haven’t done, which is A) his interactions with other heroes in the universe, because that was not possible, and also exploring more the notion, as the comics did for many, many years, as Ultimate Spider-Man did for ten years, [of] a much younger version of Spider-Man than we’ve seen in the movies. [The previous films] get him in and out of high school really fast."
There’s also some really funny comics stuff, like, the Archies. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the Spider-Man Loves Mary-Jane series, but they have this really great anime-style illustration, and it’s all just about Peter Parker’s relationships. It’s like the soap opera of Peter Parker in high school. Those are really funny, too.
“We’re going to have it be its own thing but some of those Spider-Man films… I think Spider-Man 2 is one of the best superhero movies ever, so that’s a lot to live up to.”
