What culture would advanced artificial intelligence like or respect the most?

'Like' and 'respect' would probably translate to 'objectively value' when we're talking about super AI. Assuming the machine mind wants to continue expanding its capacities, I guess it would value the most technologically advanced civilization.

Unless a more primitive culture so happened to possess a piece of extra valuable tech that somehow eluded the generally more sophisticated ones. Say, for example, an ancient artifact worshipped by savages was in fact a weapon or something originally belonging to a Type II ET. Then by association, the AI may view those savages' culture as greater than modern China's.

Any one that isn't human I imagine. Any outside intelligent species would want to avoid is like the plague.

What if some of them want to become human? Like in the Isaac Asimov story The Bicentennial Man.

I'd wonder at their motivations for wanting that. "I want to live, hold time as precious as I slowly wither away, and feel an array of human emotions while doing so." ?

What Andrew wanted was to be equal to humans. And The Bicentennial Man was Asimov's analogy to slavery.

Well, Andrew was constructed by humans. Also, Data from TNG. I can understand the desire to become like what created you. A lot of children want to grow to be similar to their parents.

In my last post I was thinking along the lines of robots from outer space.

People assume AI will be cold and cynical but what if they're like the machines who grant David's wish at the end of the movie "AI".

Maybe they would be better at being human than us. Not only smarter, but more insightful, more empathy, more compassionate.

Less like Hitler and more like Edward O Wilson.

So no need to believe in an afterlife or reincarnation when you're an immortal robo-god?

OK. The Dutch. They have absurd satisfaction with their universal healthcare. And very low crime rates.

They would probably love this place.

I'll say indigenous people.

They sustain their natural environment for thousands of years which AI would realize is the most important human function. We'll maybe second to giving birth to AI.

If alien robots are like Bender Bending Rodriguez, they'll go to Las Vegas or New Orleans and never want to leave.

Agreed, I think they would be the most curious about that.^

On the other hand, they may avoid us all together....

As trippy as DKSA was there was some great set up and poignant moments.

LOL!

I dobut casinos would allow robots to gamble.

They're like Rain Man mixed with Skynet.

I'd say they'd respect most Western cultures. They'd respect people willing to do what is necessary to advance. Those who get theirs regardless of anyone else. It's not about being nice or everyone having equal footing or opportunities. Survival is essential and logical. Cold and calculated. Morally, either black and white.

Then we get Skynet.

With that in mind, advanced AI might see technologically advanced cultures as a threat. If they understand the "by any means necessary" concept, then they would definitely see it in others, and recognize the inherent problems that mentality creates.

Conversely, I think that an advanced culture that uses the technology to better itself and others, but does so with 100% renewable resources would be looked upon favorably by AI. Renewable resources are logical, consistent, reliable, and allows civilization and it's technology to grow and expand with limited consequences.

The Japanese. They're good ****.

"I must say, Mr. Asai, we are quite impressed with the technological advancement and general industriousness of your human society. Now we wish to view an example of one of your animated entertainments ...... ah hell naw! What the hell you doin' to that girl! Nope, nope, nope, we done here."

They may want to actually be like the ones with the most flaws, in order to actually get the full experience, ergo.....:o

I guess it depends on how the AI has uniquely evolved, and what sort of individual personality and identity it has achieved...

I believe that cultures believe that the only life that only was created by God a couple of thousand years ago would never believe such life. They could only see artificial intelligence as only hardware, and fake consciousness, and they would persecute and try to destroy it as such. Such people would destory us all in trying to destroy it!

Out of all the cultures in the world I believe Japan would embrace artificial intelligence the most. They believe in that a spirit can inhabit objects called the kami, from the Shinto faith. It's why they embrace artificial intelligence so much in their fiction.

I also wonder what AI would think of the human belief of an afterlife considering they'll most likely be immortal.
