The Dark Knight What did kids think of The Dark Knight?

Wow, and that's makes him a bad character? :whatever:

It's what keeps me from being interested in him. The overabundance of power and whininess are not what I find to be attractive qualities in fictional characters.

Also, I just never cared for Spider-Man's suit. That's not the reason I dislike his character (for example, I don't care much for Batman's yellow-oval symbol or when artists color his cape and cowl blue, but he's still my favorite superhero), but I was just throwing it in there for ****s and giggles.

I'll be sure to ask your approval next time I want to decide on who my favorite comic book character is.

I never meant you had to have my aproval. I'm fine with you not liking Spider-Man that's fine. But how you stated it was what got me to say that. He's more than just whiney. And you're just looking at the films, in the comics, he has a massive amount of responisibility, and he's a teenager for God sakes. And him being bright doesn't make him a bad character. We need positive characters like him. He's great in his own way.

But it's your opinion of him, that's fine, but what you said came off as you hated the character because of that.

Did I just see people try to claim that batman is boring to kids?

The same character that sold oodles of toys since the 90's, with only spiderman selling as much by comparison?

Some of you need to realize that Batman isnt just "mature and dark"....Batman's survived because the concept is flexible, and any wikipedia read on the character should tell you that

Man, Batman's not boring. It depends on the kids really.

As a kid, 4-5 years of age, I loved Tim Burton's Batman but my cousins (same age level) thought it was boring. (They thought the movie was boring, not Batman as a character) But they eventually liked the film too as they got older.

Same thing here: If a kid finds this movie boring, he might rediscover it later in life.

Batman is the most versatile character in comics today. I don't get this 'boring to kids' stuff either.

I don't think people actually mean Batman himself is boring for kids, but just this particular film. And if i'm honest, I can see where they are coming from. If I was a kid i'd just skip through the whole film apart from the Batman and Joker scenes. Kids don't really wanna be watching court-room affairs and see people talking about "elected officials" over dinner.

I don't know what children thought of it. My little niece and Nephew are to young right now(3 and 5) to watch TDK. And it's not because I don't think they can handle it, but I just don't want them to be put off on Batman, by being scared of seeing a deranged Joker and a very gory looking Two-Face. So instead of letting them watch TDK, I bought them Lego Batman for their Wii, and we played that.

While I didn't see any young kids in the theater, I did see an old couple leave. And when I say old, I mean grandma and grandpa old.

Haha, when I went to see TDK in IMAX in the middle of the summer, sitting right behind me were two really old women. I'd say the were in their late 60s, early 70s. I was keeping my ears open for their reaction, because while I love hearing what anyone says about TDK, hearing what two old women would say is just that much better. So the movie goes on, neither of them make a peep the whole time, and I even shot a glance at them to see what they were doing - both were staring at the screen with what appeared to delight. The film ended, I'm still in shock that these two old ladies made it through the whole thing, and in IMAX with crazy surround sound to boot. And then, just about halfway into the credits, I hear:

"That was an excellent movie."

And that made my day. LOL

And the cherry on top of the whole thing was that aside from me and bddy, there were only two other people who stayed in the theater for the entire end credits. Guess who? :woot:

Yea when I went to see it in the cinema there was a old couple in front of me. The whole place was filled with younger people and then there was this old couple, seemed kinda strange. :D

especially with the new brave and bld cartoon they have on cartoon network...

it's like a poster said earlier: The whole "Its my character mentality!" that makes fanboys think that they only they can possible enjoy batman, because he can only be dark

Yeah, actually the third time I saw it with my friend, these two old ladies were in the theater.

But I didn't hear anything out of them.

But these two grown men behind me, one of them squeeled like, "Aoahh!" During the why so serious scene. It was quite funny.

Are you sure they were watching the movie? :o

Har har har...see, see what he did there? He questioned the sexuality of those two in the theatre there, quite clever actually....oooh, my goodness.

:oldrazz: There was one dude in my class who made it a habit to point out captain obvious type stuff like that all the time.

LOL, I'm sorry... :oldrazz:

I mean "Aoahh!" during the Why So Serious scene? He was either getting rear ended or his partner was pinching him.

For some reason my little brother (who's 4 & watches stuff like 'Saving Private Ryan', 'Terminator' & 'Predator' with a passion) doesn't like it. Either he finds it boring or he thinks it's scary. I don't know, he watches the old ones & the cartoons.

My little sister who's 8 sat through the whole thing & liked it. She also loves 'Batman Returns' saying that the Penguin is funny. :oldrazz:

I think you fellows are giving kids too much credit... they are almost pree-programed to start crying whenever they see something that fits their definition of scary.

As for the ones who found it boring, they are probably pree-programed to go to school the day after watching it having loads of childishly insulting nicknames ready to throw at anyone who actually enjoyed it...

I think a lot of kids who find it scarey are not scared of the things they see, but are scared of what their parents would think if they saw them seeing the things they see, see what I mean?

Batman is technically not a superhero, at least not in Nolan's version, it is a boring-for-kids crime story, with grusom disfigurement.

Granted I have found some kids with great apprecition for TDK, but I have little to no doubt they are a minority among other kidies.

I hate people like that. Or the ones that keep asking questions like "Who is that guy?" "What is he doing that for?"

How the **** am i suppose to know you idiots!?!?!

I don't think you're giving them enough credit. I don't know about you, but I was kid once, believe it or not, and I often enjoyed films/TV/comics/whatever like TDK.

It's all about different strokes, lumping all kids together as ADD-inflicted peabrains is just ignorant.

I think I've played it so much that my kids are fed up with it. ;)

"Not again, muuuum." "Don't you get bored with The Dark Knight?" etc etc.

Actually dudes, when my husband & I saw it in the cinema for the first time last summer...there was a very young family in there - mum, dad, kid of about 4 and a BABY of about 9 months. A baby!! Now THAT is just wrong. The mother kept taking both the kids out. I think in the end, just the dad stayed.

My philosophy is - if you can't get a babysitter, stay at home and wait for the DVD!!

this is exactly the "Batman is for meezz only!!!" mentality that some of us were talking about
