I was fine with the planes moment. It gave the blackout serious ramifications other than New Yorkers not being able to read a book without a lamp, etc.I didn't mind the crane scene that much in TASM, but I'd take this any day of the week over it. Plus, I think there's some loose connection to be made with the opening Richard/Mary plane crash. An opposite result bookending the film.
I didnt dislike it, I just thought the screen-time it took up could have been used on far more important things. It could even have been cut down and still shown us what it needed too.
