I think they have a important role in everything which is why I am joining into the United States Marine Corp in about 8-12 weeks. Not to mention they get to go all over the world.

I think they are a good organization and anyone who is willing to put their lives on the line for their country is a okay with me.

i think they have an important role in DEFENDING this country.

that said, i have little to no respect for the people joining up now to go "kill things."

also, because there's almost no accountability with military personel (or police for that matter), i have a hard time trusting/respecting them.

I have nothing but the highest respect for our millitary.

I think that military forces are necessairy for the sake of protecting the country. I think that the military can be corrupted and has been in the past, resulting in many needless deaths for the personal gain of a few. I also think that some people in the military are *******s, although this is forgivable as certain aspects of military service require a person to be hardened a bit. I think that some aspects of the military are at best morally ambiguous and at worst apalling an almost every level, but I also think that there are some dirty jobs in the world that need to be done and the aformentioned aspects of the military fill that role. Most of all, I think the best military is one that is not actively fighting.

Good Luck and Yeah I liked it. It's the dying horribly part I'm not too keen on.

No good will come from this thread, it's doomed to become another thread about the war in Iraq.

Well I hope it does not become that way cause I started it to see what people think. I am not joining to as previously said by someone at the top of the page to go out and kill. I am joining to be with my friends that are in it I am goin in to computer networking. I hope I dont go to Iraq but if I do then so be it. I really want to go to Japan where my friend is at.

Why the hell are we even in Europe and Japan? Jesus Christ people those are our friends.

On a different note, the odds of you not going to Iraq are slim. If you're afraid of that I suggest you claim to be gay to get out.

Good for you.

How old are you? Are you planning on using this to pay for school?

t's called being forward deployed. if something pops off somewhere like North korea is it quicker for us to go from Hawaii or Japan???

i think they're a great source for getting your education paid for... if you come back alive

I'm a fan of the military seeing as how I just enlisted in the Army this past Wednesday. Good luck with the marines. What's your MOS?

HOORA!:word: :cwink:

nowhere near stable.not a good career choice even going for officer training means nothing when they can skip your promotion. Its not good from any front except the front lines and even then. Most vets become burdens to the country after being assests so i guess they break even somehow.

Good luck in the USMC. You will find mentors who will help to shape you into a better man. Listen well and learn.

You will face challenges that will make you stronger and tougher than you are now. Make the most of it, and give it all you've got.

Take advantage of opportunities that come your way. Pick up skills, and volunteer whenever you get the chance. You will be rewarded for hard work.

The military is great for those who need to get away from, or out of, a bad situation. I never fault anyone for wanting to join, if they truly want to serve, and to better themselves. I could make out a very long list of things that are not so great, however.

Kritish I like it that you replied but for the sake of this leading somewhere I dont want it as in a word off. We have bases in Japan just like we do in Germany and all over the world and if I go to Iraq. BRING IT ON! I am not scared to go over there. I do not remember the name of the person who asked my MOS but it is Computer networking. I really appreciate all of your views advice and critiques. Please keep coming with the questions and comments.

I don't find it hard to respect the military. I mean, ****, like them or not, you have to at least respect them for risking their lives. And in all likely hood, even if you are deployed to Iraq, the odds of you getting killed aren't as high as everyone likes to project them to be. Its just a lot of exaggeration mainly due to people who are against the war and them wanting to blow it up more than it is because of all the negativity that has come out of the war. Basically, you won't be killed.

I have almost 18 years in the military now and it's been great to me. There are many great benefits to being in the military so to make an arbirtrary comment like it not being good from any front except the front lines shows you're simply uninformed. To further prove your ignorance you go and disrespect people that have chosen the military path by saying most of them become burdens to the country. I've read many of the posts you put up (primarily on a couple Hulk threads) and have never had reason to think ill of you...with a few strokes of the keys, you've shown what an disrespectful, ignorant ass you are.

To Punisher...it's an honorable profession and I wish you well. Take advantage of what they offer and stay safe. There will be highs and lows as there are with most things in life. Semper Fi my friend.

Wouldn't be able to have this message board without someone defending us and protecting us.

I love our military. If it weren't for them, we'd be slaves to the regime of those bloody nazis or commies.

I didn't have all that much respect for the military until I moved to plymouth, which is pretty much just one big damn naval base. I still can't support the war, but equally I cannot fault the soldiers doing what they believe in. I'm going to college now with girls who have four or five brothers all out there doing their thing, and it makes you think.

I woudn't do it. I would strongly advise any member of my family not to do it. It isn't an easy thing to do, not going in at grunt level, but if its what you wanna do...

I'd pick the police over the military any day.
