what he hell is up with music these days?

Outkast I'm cool with. The White Stripes are a bit one-dimensional but still very good. The Killers I'll admit are awesome. So there's some good music out there, but barely.

The Killers are tolerable, but they sound just like every other post-punk Depeche Mode knockoffs I've ever heard.

Eh, Depeche Mode are so big, it's hard not to seem Depeche Mode-y when in that general sound.

I'm personally all about old, New Romantic, Speak and Spell Depeche Mode, but that's just me.

You know what music is ****? This:

Yeah, Umbrella was so overrated. One week at number 1 was enough. :down I actually wanted to drown her in the rain I got so sick of it. :o

Music these days isn't as sincere as it was in the 70's, 80's, or early 90's for that matter. More or less it's all about the look instead of it being about talent and musicianship.

The only current bands I listen to these days are Coheed and Cambria, Alter Bridge, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, A Perfect Circle, God Forbid, Still Remains, and In This Moment. Majority of those bands receive little to no airplay on radio or any music television station, unless it's on sirius radio with Hard Attack or Octane.

But as I said, music these days is more or less about the look and not about the actual message or talent. Majority of the bands I listen to are from the 70's, 80's, or early 90's anyways. You just can't beat Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Journey, Iron Maiden, Rush, Yes, King Crimson, Elton John, Heart, Queensryche, Queen, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P., Nine Inch Nails, Tool, The Carpenters, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Boston, Genesis, The Doobie Brothers, Mercyful Fate, and etc....

Right on man.

At the risk of sounding like a music snob, most of the newer stuff I listen to isn't THAT well known.
Favorites are mostly:
Bear Vs Shark (broke up in 2005 but are probably one of my favorite bands of all time, check em out.)
Portugal The Man
Minus The Bear

When I want some balls to the wall metal, I throw in some Pig Destroyer.
When I wanna chill out, i'll listen to some Mogwai.
I'm only 21 but I ADORE "oldies", 60-70's rock, Bluegrass, Hair metal..

I just cant stand most mainstream music, it's mindless, boring, repetative s**t.. for lack of better term.
Has no "staying power", and is just plain f**king garbage.

Here is another **** song by The Feeling.

Can't believe they get paid for this so called music:whatever:

Does anyone wanna help me assassinate Fergie?

Ok, but then you gotta help me assassinate every ****** indy band like The Feeling, Kaiser chiefs, Razorlight and Snow Patrol. What ******s they are.

seriously some of the worst possible crap has been making it's way into the charts these days

now, i ask people when this stuff comes on and NO ONE likes it! so how the **** does something so many people hate get to number 1!!?!?!?!?!??!?!!

examples...

this:

was at the UK number one for like 10 weeks...everyone i know hated it, random people in shops got more angry when it played, so how the feck did it get to number 1?

now there's this:

which is just as horrible but is no doubt somehow going to wind up top of the chart...

and we all remember this:

so i ask you all...what the ****ing hell is up with music:huh:

I just ignore the existance of Crazy Frog.

I agree that most mainstream music today sucks. Just about anything put on MTV is trash, but there are still a few mediocre and up bands out there: Deftones, Alien Ant Farm, Weezer, Tool, White Stripes, A Perfect Circle, Marilyn Manson, etc.

For the most part, I stay to the oldies. Just about anything twenty years or older is great listening music for me.

However, I tend to avoid indie most of the time. I used to listen to nothing but indie, but it all just started to sound the same. There was no variation.

I know I didn't just catch you lumping Tool in with crap like the White Stripes and Weezer.

That's why I added in "mediocre."

I actually like White Stripes, except for their newer stuff. Weezer is meh, but it's not Linkin Park.

OMG, you people have no test in music!

Come on!

I mean: Pantera, Damageplan, Anthrax, Megadeth, Prong, Primus, Exodus, System of a down, Tool, Iced Earth, Slayer, Old School Metallica, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Black Label Society, Drowning Pool, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, A Perfect Circle! Those are good bands, anyone who says the White Stripes deserves to be crucified.
