what he hell is up with music these days?

Want of image is more important thesedays than musical ability, especially in mainstream genre's. The not as mainstream genre's like folk however still remain pure and producing amazing music still....

the music of today isn't crap... in fact, a lot of it is freaking great.

the music of today that's played on the radio and mtv is crap.

there's a big stinking difference. there's a lot of great music out there today. just because you guys watch mtv and listen to the top 40 station doesn't mean that that's the only music out there.

QFT.

The generational thing is only a small part of it.

The music industry is a different monster than it was even 10 years ago. It is harder to find good music, because good music just isn't in the charts anymore.

I'm only 23, fer cryin' out loud :whatever: Its not like we're grumpy old men complaining here. You'll find plenty of teenagers that agree.

Yeah, my post is going to start a flamewar, and some of what I said was a bit harsh.

How so?
Bias also takes a part in it, as well.

The music industry was a different monster in the 80's than in the 90's. It's always a different beast wirth each passing generation. The music industry was even completely different from the early 90's to the late 90's. And the last sentence is an opinionated statement, not fact. There were people who even hated the mainstream from the 90's and back. It's nothing new.

And you'll find plenty of teenagers that love today's music.

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in popular music today, and I'm 24. If you try hard enough (or don't try at all, I'm not sure), you can avoid it all.

That being said, the music of today is still quite amazing. You just gotta find the right stuff.

There is some good music out there, but that's it just some. I only listen to a handful of things from this decade. It's sad because we're children of the nineties which had some of the best music in awhile damnit! What's even worse is my generation has basically given in to listening to this BS. Me personally I stick with the classic rock. You can never go wrong with Zeppelin, Hendrix, Joplin, Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, CSNY, The Doors, ect
