Given the news Sony has sold the Spider-Man film merchandising rights, it's a big possibility they may in the future, be forced to sell the movie rights, even back to Marvel/Disney.

How does this make you feel? Do you think the present course of this film has given you enough faith, that if sold, you'd want to keep the current production team and cast? Would you want another reboot?

It's quite an interesting situation and very exciting.

I for one hope this film blows it out of the park, is great, Marvel gets the rights back, and just continues on course with Andrew Garfield. Hoping he does well of course.

If that happens, I'm pretty sure they'll just carry on with it.

I'm confident that this movie will be awesome.

EDIT: And yeah, I'd want them to carry on with the current cast too.

I would like to see Spidey's cameo in Avengers 2 or something.

That would be a dream come true, but I'm not gonna get my hopes up that that'll ever happen.

*Reads thread title. Skips over OP and responses*

I'd kill myself.

I definitely wouldn't want a reboot after only one film. If Marvel got the rights back they had better keep everything the same and not stick their fingers in it like they did with IM2.

Agreeing with yourself.

Forever alone.

No way Sony sells the rights away, this franchise has basically been a cash cow. This reboot remains to be seen how its received but they aren't letting go anytime soon.

If this DOES happen, I have no doubt that Disney would instantly snatch the rights up. Hell, I don't even think it's an option that the rights could go to another studio.

If the movie is a hit either critically or financially (hopefully both), I can see Marvel continuing it & adapting it to the MCU.

The moment that would make me fangasm the most in this movie, would be an after-credits scene with Nick Fury talking to Spidey.

Don't want it during this trilogy. The styles just don't mesh.

Sony would have to be high to sell the rights to Spider-Man anytime soon. Marvel will never get them back so long as superheroes are popular.

I would love for this film to be a giant success, and I suspect that it will be. Perhaps not to Dark Knight levels, but at least your average superhero film intake. Having said that, I would be okay with the rights going back to Marvel ONLY if they decided to keep going on the path that The Amazing Spider-Man is due to lay out. Seeing Spider-Man drift out of being his own film properly and into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe would, frankly, make me gag.

I would fangasm if Marvel got the rights back. I don't know if this movie is going to be great, mediocre, or bad so I don't know how I would feel if they continued this series or rebooted. I don't think Marvel would be dumb and reboot again. I think in the least they would keep Garfield and Stone but make the next movie fit in with their line of superhero movies. I for one would love to see Spider-Man in an Avengers movie.

I knew chaseter would like this...

No, no and no. Did I say no? If not then no. Spider-Man is bigger than The Avengers. He deserves his own films and his own story. Every time I've watched an MCU movie, I can't help but say to myself, "Oh sweet. Another 2 hour long advertisement for The Avengers." I don't want that thought entering my head during a Spidey film.

I don't really want to see Spider-Man in the Avengers. Spider-Man doesn't belong in a team.

If they sell merchandising rights, count on it being Disney who gets it.

I'm hoping Sony doesn't have to sell and they keep the rights. I think they've consistently done a good job with the Spider-Man films, and I have a feeling ASM is going to be the best yet, a total classic. I love the director, the cast and the vibe. I don't want it to go to another studio, just hope it keeps going with Sony.

Oh God I hope Marvel won't get the rights too soon and **** it up with another plastic, typical Marvel Studios film. And I want Spidey to be all on his own, which Marvel Studios probably wouldn't let him.

You should start playing the lottery.

I totally agree with this!
