What If "Superman Starts" Hulks Out?

People don't care about the hulk. He's a pretty lame character, I don't think that movie ever had a chance

Im seriously tired of hearing the words Superman and failure in the same sentence. Its time to forget the crap that was SR and all the previous attempts and concentrate on this new movie.

There's no What if scenarios in reality. It is either did or didn't. Period.

Too early to say Superman is going to make hulk numbers or whatever.

Well, whatever the case , there's too much money in the Superman brand to walk away from. In other words even if the film doesn't meet WB expectations , they aren't gonna shelve any future films. The Shuster and Seigal lawsuit also gives them more incentive to ride that horse whether they want to or not.

I agree...Superman's just as capable of being as unsuccessful and unpopular as any other character...past be damned. Or being just as good, too. ;)

I think they are going to be looking to at least make more then superman returns. I think in a way SR was an eye-opener in that not every film can make spider-man numbers. If they're going the origin route, and make you care for clark (like they managed to make you care for bruce, which for a billionaire, no one can relate to) add in some cool visuals and a super powered fight it will do well.

I think Tranformers, TDK, and Iron Man were eye-openers as well...in that movies that cost less to make than SR could do the numbers that they did.

The lawsuits and the continuing exploitation of Siegel and Shuster is the only reason this film is being made. I don't know if Sucker Punch bombing will matter much, but other statements of Snyder's makes me question how good a choice he was. It could easily underperform, but even if this movie does do less than WB wants, it will serve it's legal purpose.

WB/DC has been clueless with Superman for 25 years now, so major changes in philosophy would be required for that to change. The one redeeming thing for this production is the casting so far and Nolan's involvement. But I don't think Snyder is a bad thing for it...he'll be motivated than ever now to prove he can deliver a good movie. I do question his understanding of Superman and his tastes in Superman comics, however. All I know is he likes Jim Lee (kissing his ass), Curt Swan, DKR, (which is crap) and Death of Superman, which is pretty overrated and shallow. So the only good sign so far is he said he like Swan's Superman. And the casting decisions so far which are hard to argue with.

Good points . It seems that they've had better luck with getting the character on TV over the past generation then in the thearters. With Superboy , Lois and Clark, STAS and SV they've been able to at least keep the character in the public eye since each of the shows seemed to appear within the span of a few years of each other. WB also turned their blood sweat and tears to the Batman films from 1989 to 2005 .
