Sequels What if Thanos isn't the villain in Avengers 3?

It seems like we've all been assuming Thanos will be the main villain of Avengers 3, but what if that's not actually the case? Maybe Marvel will do sort of a "super-crossover" after Avengers 3 simply titled The Infinity Gauntlet. And it could be a crossover between the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and any other teams we might have by the end of Phase Three (Inhumans?).

If they could balance ALL those characters well enough in a single movie, it'd be quite the blockbusting, cinematic experience. Plus it would be less expected, and it would free up Avengers 3 for another villain or storyline that we might want to see. Assuming it's a possibility, what non-Thanos villain do you think could cap off an Avengers trilogy?

Just a thought, though perhaps an unrealistic one...

I think they're going to do that anyway with Avengers 3. But Thanos has to be the big bad in 3. There's no other way around it. By that time, it will have been 6 years since his first appearance was teased. Can't keep holding him back for long.

They'd have to get new contracts done up for basically everyone.

Evans, Hemsworth, RDJ, SLJ, especially are only signed until A3. A couple go past (Ruffalo, Sebastian Stan, GotG folks, etc.)

I think it's pretty much guaranteed that Thanos is gonna be the villain in Avengers 3, plus everyone's expecting it, and some people, like myself, who can't wait to see him in Avengers 3, Would be bummed out.

After A3 I wouldn't mind seeing Kang in a possible sequel, if there is any more after that who knows, Korvac, Masters of Evil, Kree, the return of an upgraded Ultron, Scarlet Witch going crazy, maybe even Civil War!

Possibilities are endless at Marvel Studios.

i predict (just for fun of course) that in avengers 3 they lose against thanos...in phase four they introduce more new characters...recast some of the old if they want them to stay a part of...and in avengers 4 they fight thanos again...maybe with adam warlock as thanos main anthagonist...the new roster for A4 could be: (bucky)cap, dr. strange, ant/giant-man, captain marvel, vision, black panther, the hulk, adam warlock, and a recast iron man. maybe some from the guardians or even nova or black bolt.

i'm with you..but for some roles it's gonna be inevitable...they either recast or change the roster completely sooner or later. now i thought how about avengers 3: masters of evil. save thanos as long as possible make avengers 4 but call it the infinity gauntlet...maybe split it in two or even three movies and keep expanding the universe.

I really don't think there is anyway around it, I'm fairly sure he will be in Avengers3, its been building up for so long, it would suck to see a recast IronMan or Thor or anyone go up against him, it has to be the current actors we have now, seeing as Robert Downey JR has a contract which ends with Avengers 3 and Hemsworth and Evans contracts are up after their 3rd solo outing, plus how long can they really churn out the infinity gauntlet storyline? Im not sure what they will do, but there are more stories to tell in the Marvel Universe.

Kang the Conqueror, Masters of Evil, Korvac, Scarlet Witch, Kree/Skrull war, Civil war, honestly there is a lot more they can do, as for team roster, look at the new movies coming out, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man (Which will no doubt introduce Wasp somewhere down the line), the inevitable Black Panther, the likely Ms. Marvel, I also read that if the netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist) do well, there is a great chance they could make it to film.

Seriously, go read a comic, the possibilities are endless in the Marvel Universe.

yes in the comics its endless and i'm aavre of the new roster possibilities...i just like to know what would be the most likely for continuing the mcu. cause this isnt going to be as endless as the comics will be....lot of ideas are crammed in ...and somany characters are invented...some are rather silly and won't last to long for a movie...i know they had whiplash translated well and even batroc the leaper worked...what would be the most likely threat for the future avengers? i could see the masters of evil...im not sure with kang he would feel too much as a thanos replacement i think.

Would love to see Kang make an appearance on the big screen, a few villains scared me as a kid just by reading the comics, Kang is one of them.

Korvac could be a huge threat on the same scale as Thanos.

A Kree/Skrull war would look great on the big screen.

I think Kang is the most likely.

The Kang Dynasty is a good story, Kang is basically a time traveller, in the Kang Dynasty he comes to our present from the future, and shows the world numerous ways it will soon be destroyed, even if they stop one threat another will follow, at first it appears he want to help Earth, but he wants to help us by conquering us, its up to The Avengers to stop other threats whilst also taking out Kang, there is obviously so much more detail, but its a great read and makes for a nice movie title, Avenger 4 - The Kang Dynasty
