Both are putting out quality films. But what do you feel is both studios niche? I'll share my opinion and please share yours.

Marvel-
1. Puts out 4-5 great movies a year. And each movie seems to top the last
2. Continuity is there and easy to follow
3. New Characters are alway being introduced
4. The casting is incredible
5. Directing is awesome but more studio driven except for our hero Bryan Singer

DC-
1. Batman trilogy. Enough said
2. Introduced a real version of Superman
3. Movies are of better quality than Marvel (not that Marvel sucks at all)
4. The twists and turns are way more realistic and emotionally shocking
5. Has two legendary directors who can almost do no wrong (Nolan, Snyder) who have almost free reign to do what they feel instead of studio dictating.

End result=both are awesome!

I also hould dd Marvel obviously has the abilit to add more franchsises to film because they know how to make whatever characters they choose be interesting. DC seems to have to always stick Batman and Superman in the mix to keep the audience interested.

Marvel has quality and quantity. DC does Batman well.

Marvel (studios) has the more accessible, fun and entertaining movies.

DC have the more gritty, violent and bombastic movies.

Winner = The Fans. Whichever mood your in, light or dark there's a movie for you :)

i totally agree with that :yay:

Marvel
+Light Comic booky funny movies.
-story is **** villians are ****(no offense loki)

DC
+picture quality is top notch and dark knigh trio is best
-they cant do movie without 4-5 years thats so bad.
-have lame characters

Based on what? Besides the Nolan trilogy, Watchmen, Tim Burton's Batman, the first two Superman films and maybe Man of Steel, none of DC's movies have held a candle to the stuff Marvel Studios puts out.

And quite a lot of people would beg to differ on Man of Steel and Watchmen.

Hmm, maybe Watchman but Man of Steel was a bad kick off to the DC universe.

Though I find myself liking tales that dive into more serious plot lines, I think what made Marvel the arguable "king of superhero movies" is the fact that they came up with the sheared universe for superheros first and pulled of The Avengers very well. Also, they try to follow at least the spirit of the comics, which earns them fan respect, while also making sure that the general audience isn't confused.( Although with T.v. that's a very different story, yet that's for another topic).

Well only Sony is making crappy Marvel films right now. Fox has really stepped up their game with the last three films while Disney's worst film (Thor: The Dark World) is still perfectly watchable, just flawed.

DC films are only made by one studio. The first two Superman films were good. The first two Batman films were good. The Dark Knight Trilogy was excellent.Man of Steel was a great way to kick off a shared universe.

Watchmen was a little bit too faithful to the point where I'd rather just read the comic but it's good for the illiterate and still a good story. I just have mixed feeling on it.

At the same time, there were also the Swamp Thing films, Superman 3 and 4, the Joel Schumaker Batman films, Supergirl, Steel, Green Lantern, Johan Hex, Constantine and Catwoman. For whatever reason, DC can only seem to make good films starring Batman or Superman. They seem to fail at everything else or in the case of Watchmen, just have mixed results.

Marvel may be fragmented across three studios which makes crossovers hard since there would need to be a lot of legal red tape to sort out before the Fantastic Four can team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy or Spider-Man can join the Avengers.

DC hasn't even tried to build a shared universe until Man of Steel. That's usually a sign that DC has no clue what they're doing and can't get a solid producer on board to watch over all their DC properties as a day job. Disney has Kevin Feige and Joss Whedon. Fox has Lauren Schuler Donner and Mark Millar. Even Sony has Avi Arad. Warner just prefers to fly rudderless despite having access to their entire library of characters.

The edge goes to Marvel. Even within the comics, it's easier to follow Marvel's continuity, Marvel has reprinted most of their back catalog and they have better names for their four big teams than just Justice League, Justice League of America, Justice League International and Justice League Dark. Marvel calls theirs Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel also prints higher quality hardcovers that have sown as opposed to glued bindings.

there is not need for shared universe. they can put batman and superman without shared universe. they just need same actors and thats it.
i dont get shared universe thing.
marvel actually says we have it but in no body cares events of IRONMan 3 at Winter soldier.not even little reference. your best avenger is dying no body cares what the heck captain was doing at while Tony was attacked by Terroist.

yeah about shared universe...

DC tried twice to start a shared universe. the first time they failed miserably with GL, where they really tried hard to copy MS approach to the point where they had Amanda Waller as Nick Fury stand-in. It didn't work and the WB spin doctors saved the situation with stating that a shared CU is a gimmick beneath DC and the character work better on their own. Then - after Avengers - DC tried a second time, where they altered MS' modus operandi for MoS with mixed results but successful enough to announce a sequel.
I guess it depends how well BvSvJLA performs at the box office. If it underperforms for whatever reason I actually see WB backpaddeling with a lot of those release dates. They can't just make 9 Batman movies in the next 5 years

I've read people list one of the reasons they view the MCU as one franchise is because the events of the movies carry over into others.

I haven't seen TWS yet. Is paypaytr correct when he say there is no mention of Stark, Killian, Iron Patriot or anything from TDW in the movie?

Stark is mentioned. The events of IM3 (or TDW for that matter) not.

There are however plot threads that specifically connect to and influence/are influenced by events and characters from Thor, Iron Man 1 and 2 and The Avengers. :cwink:

fixed that for you. I still can't forgive TDKR

You and me both. That movie was just awful.

Remember the part where a bomb is going to go off in a matter of hours and Batman takes the time to scale a skyscraper, strategically douse it with gasoline in the shape of a bat and light it on fire? That was easily the worst moment I've ever seen in a comic book movie.

no. just like with Batman & Robin, I refuse to remember any scene from TDKR

Bane was equally comical in both films. When he started speaking on the plane, people in my theater started laughing. I was like...this may not be the best idea.

the sad part is that BB and TDK were damn great movies and the drop in quality with TDKR retroactivly spoils the enjoyment of parts 1 and 2 of the trilogy for me :(

Amanda Waller was hardly a Nick Fury stand in. Waller wasn't even really Waller in GL, she was some scientist who might as well have been an extra.
