What is the future of DC films after the failure of "Green Lantern"?

Why are you excluding 2014 from WB's schedule? There's plenty of time for WB to put together, say, a Flash movie for filming in 2013. It's only February after all.

I am not saying there couldn't be a film for 2014 - it's just not a given.

Here's a modified future schedule for WB with/2014:

2014 Flash
2015 Batman reboot #1
2016 Rebooted GL
2017 Flash 2
2018 Batman reboot #2
2019 GL reboot #2
2020 JL or Flash #3

I feel that If DC just copies the line up for Marvel's characters for Avengers by just replacing each Marvel character with its closet possible DC equivalent for JL, it will look like this -

Nick Fury - Amanda Waller.
General Thaddeus Ross - General Sam Lane.

Hawkeye - Green Arrow.
Black Widow - Black Canary.
Iron Man - Steel.
Captain America - Guardian.
Thor - Captain Marvel.
Hulk - Captain Marvel (same as above.)

So, basically JL movie equivalent of Avengers is -Green Arrow, Black Canary, Steel (or Cyborg), Guardian and Captain marvel.

Now it is not the well known iconic team but if we consider it for a moment, it becomes apparent that this team looks more grounded and it will cost much less if this team is selected, but as it is not popular it will not do as well as Avengers will (I know many will say that each hero in Avengers team has got his own movie first) even if WB were to make a movie for each of thse characters and then make a JL movie consisting of this team up it will not do well, this is the advantage Marvel has.

WB will have to make a JL movie with their iconic characters and each of its members will have to appear in big budget movie, characters like Green lantern, Wonder Woman , Flash require big budgets.

I gotta tell ya, that sounds terrible.

I think we are just going to get more Superman and Batman and they wont bother developing any other characters into a full blown movie.

It's unlikely they'll have a Flash film together for 2014. The project is dead. It was most recently in the hands of Berlanti and co., the guys who did GL.

GL's failure means their Flash project is scrapped.

IMO they should let "Man of Steel" be the rebirth of the DC films.

2013 - Man of Steel (Superman Reboot)

2015 - Batman Reboot

2016 - Justice League

All three with Nolan as producer.

Which one of the superheroes yet to be made a film, is closest in tone to the current crop of superhero films right now (from WB, Marvel Studios, Fox and Sony)?
Is that character most likely to be adapted next?

^This is exactly what's going to happen. If Batman and Superman get successful trilogies they *might* try a Flash movie. But probably not, honestly.

Flash is the *only* likely one to be adapted other than Superman and Batman. We all know how WB feels about female action heroes. :cmad:

I think you might get more mileage out of that year one team: Black Canary, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Flash and Martian Manhunter. But still, just plain old not likely.

Does anyone remember that old JLI-styled Justice League show?

Give Me Batman, Give Me Superman, Give Me Wonder Woman, or Give Me My Money Back!

But is Flash the one who's most alike the other film superheroes we see now?

We all know that if they made a Flash movie it's gonna be Barry. There's no point in entertaining the idea that they'd use anybody else.....which sucks. :(

I'll admit, I've never read the Flash before, so I have no first-hand opinion of any of the Flashes.
Why would Barry Allen definitely be used in a Flash movie?

He's the main Flash right now. DC Entertainment is still in charge of the movies and that will be the Flash they want to use cuz he's the "Iconic" Flash or whatevs. :whatever:

Also, trying to cram in a legacy aspect is too hard for the small minds at the top I guess. Which is why they got rid of it in the comics. :argh:

I guess that makes sense. And why would Barry Allen in a Flash movie be a bad idea?

I'm not saying it would be. I would rather have Wally. He's my favorite Flash. But my opinion doesn't really matter when you get right down to it.

How would you do this in a 2-hour film?

Well, perhaps start out with Barry Allen as the Flash. Show him in his prime. Then have a time skip. Then show Wally becoming the Flash. And then have him take up the mantle. Perhaps fight some of Barry's old enemies. Something like that. One thing DC movies haven't done (at least not Batman and Superman) is allude to past superheroes. I assume you can take some liberties for the sake of a live-action adaption. Batman sure did.

Assuming WB looses Superman after 2013 I think they will move forward with one of the other big hitters.

I'd love it to be WW but a female super-hero has not been done. Too risky for WB I think.

Flash is a possibility but the potentail may not be there.

I kind of think, needing a second franchise to join Bats, they will reboot GL. new actor, new everything.

GL can be huge like Batman. It's DC''s strongest franchise after Batman. If done right we are talking another Ironman.

Either they'll win, or they'll have to pay the Shusters a bunch of money. They wont loose Superman.

I'll never fathom why WB rejects the idea of a female-led action film, especially with Wonder Woman. It's got something for both genders.

A hot and beautiful actress in possibly revealing armor and/or tights that kicks ass AND a role model or 'icon/symbol' image for the female demographic.

Seriously, what could go wrong??????
