Really good overall, even if the middle portions got a bit confusing. I still think Red Son might be my favorite Superman story thus far, but I'll have to re-read both (along with other books I haven't gotten to yet) to fully make up my mind.
Marvel’s Original Graphic Novel series 4th installment is a Jim Starlin story dedicated to his most famous & his (presumably) favorite characters Thanos the Mad Titan & Adam Warlock!
Thanos the Infinity Revelation is about Thanos & Adam Warlock having a discussion for 100 pages, steam rolling thru the Annihilators, a group composed of power house characters like Ronan the Accuser, Silver Surfer, Beta Ray Bill while the protagonist of the story sits comfortably at his throne, are comic fights supposed to be engaging with obstacles or for Starlin to demonstrate that his characters are better than anyone else’s?
If by chance, you are new to Marvel comics and you’re intrigued about this mysterious mad Titan who has had two small appearances in the cinematic universe, Starlin happily spends 6 entire pages giving exposition about Thanos’ entire continuity from all the important events. This comic is riddled with references to other comics, loaded with exposition about characters or what X or Y is to Z or Ö characters/events. It doesn’t show you these things much, but it will tell you everything.
Starlin happily concludes the story by making his characters, literally become the focal point of the entire Marvel universe.
I honestly do not doubt anyone at the Marvel office nor will fans (outside of Starlin’s own) ever reference to acknowledge this comic at all.
It’s not new reader friendly, or engaging to older Marvel fans.
Damn good! Snyder and Capullo continue to deliver the awesomeness. I've heard mixed reactions concerning Zero Year, but it would be a lie if I said I'm not intrigued. I'll hold off purchasing it until I read a few pages and see what it has to offer.
Justice League: Trinity War - a bit of a mess to be honest. I skipped over some chapters because many of the panels looked similar to others, just with different characters. I'll see how I feel about Forever Evil; just waiting for the trade paper back to release.
Batman: Zero Year - Secret City
Not bad, but I'm afraid some of the criticism I've heard is accurate. Snyder's writing meanders a bit and the artwork just seems uncharacteristically bland for Capullo. I'm not sure what happened. On the plus side, I did enjoy the retelling of Joker's origin as well as the inclusion of the Riddler. Despite the problems, I look forward to finishing the Zero year arc.
I've read some, more of my typical Marvel and DC, bought the first few issues of Coffin Hill to try out, it's decent. But I only got one I wanna post:
Nailbiter. Wow. I started with issue two onward and I still ****ing love this book. I just gotta get my hands on the first issue. If the shops don't have it, I'll order it. I've never done that with a comic before. Now this would make one hell of a television series or movie.
Just love it all. To those not reading it, do yourself a favor and try to pick the previous issues up. You won't regret it.
Also Supreme Blue Rose by Ellis is still at issue one if anyone's interested. That's got some cool potential.
