Superman Returns What is the proper way to pronounce krypton in the movies?

Yeah I know, this is kind of a dumb thing to talk about but i'm hella bored.

But, while rewatching Superman: The Movie, one thing I couldn't shake was how the late Marlon Brando pronounces "Krypton"...as he kinda says it like "Kriptin".

Not that I have any problem with it but...is this how it was originally supposed to be said? Or did no one just tell Brando that he was saying it wrong?

Even in the trailer, Spacey's Lex says that long winded "krrrrrriiiiiipppppttttoooonnniiitttte"?

It's Kypton, not Kryptin....It's named after the element Kypton...

I never had any idea what so ever what the hell Kevin Spacey was saying!!

I always thought he was saying "brrrrrriiiiiippppppp toooniiighhht"

Sheesh! Brando was born and raised in NYC. He attended acting school there with his sister. Brando was Italian the same way I am ... through parents and grandparents.

He was affecting an accent when he pronouned Krypton. He was trying to make Jor-el sound intellectual and upper class.

Again, this is only in relation to the movie interpretation NOT the comics, SV, TAS, etc. :

Well my rationale...Jor-El's kryptonian...if thats how he says krypton than maybe thats how it's supposed to be said.

Krypton the way it's commonly pronounced is the way its said by human beings...but for actual kryptonians, its probably said more formally.

The difference with Clark is that he was raised as a human and thus says it as so?

(I might be rambling...I had my wisdom teeth pulled...could be the meds talkin' )

well when you say "Kryptonian"...you stress it like krypTONian...not kryptonIan, so i think the proper way to say it is KrypTAWN instead of KRYPtin. maybe Brando just wanted to add his own flair or make it sound more Lord of the Rings-ish (kryptin) than Flash Gordon-ish (kryptawn).

its because of the shakesperean accents Tom Mankiewitz wrote for the Kryptonians. in an olde english accent, Krypton sounds like Kryptin...
