A few months ago I would have said the 80's, but I have been watching a lot of old 80's music. That decade was pretty f-ing gay. Even the cartoons were a little metrosexual. I am starting to like the 70's, & 90's more, & more. These 2 decades everything was gritty, & real.

Hey was Tony Robbins just here a few posts back? Or was it Dr. Phil?

90's.

Seriously, I've even had a first hand experience in growing up in the 90's (:wow: NO WAI!). Why wouldn't I pick the 90's?
However, if I had were trapped in a time machine and had to live in a decade, I would live in the 70's, because of my love for disco and motown.

The 90s: Its an amalgam of all great decades! Seriously its got the Drug use and art influence of the 60s, the movies of the 70s, the cool music of the 80s mixed with the gritty 70s! Its the best of all worlds!

Don't forget Hanson and BBMak! :oldrazz:

dude if you want to compare music 80's and 90's... there is no comparison. so quit trying.

90's but the 60's were close as were the 70's

it really amazes me how much people idealize the past as this thing that was so much better than what we have now, yet fail to realize that it's all cyclical, and also, that as much as any decade had really great stuff, there's also horrid stuff that came out back then

you can't say "oh yeah, the best decade was the 80's" or "the best music came from the 60's" or "the 90's had the better ___________"

every decade, every year brings good and bad stuff

I rather live in the present, because I have the added benefit of relieving the past anytime I want

not to mention that the best thing about the past is that it's already done for, it's not here anymore, but we can learn from it

don't dwell on something that is gone, learn from that and build a better future

Thank you, Yoda.

:D

90's...great times. Altho I would of loved to live in the 60's... hippies crack me up :D

90s. We had a school strike during the last month of junior high. Every students dream. 8th Grade is still my favorite year of schooling ever. I also miss the pop music :(

The 1970s'. Zeppelin, Star Wars, Happy Days, Disco...

The 1960s' were also awesome, tied with the 1970s'. My favorite overall is probably the 1950s'.

Here's my idea of the ideal life. Born in the Mid to Late 40s. Like around 1947. Then I'm a teen when the Beatles overtake American in 1964. I'm 20 in 1967, so I can go to the Monterey Pop Festival and see Jimi Hendrix break out onto the music scene. Then two years later, I can go to Woodstock. And I'm still young in the 70s, so I can see my favorite bands in their prime.

Overall, I would pick either the 50s or the 60s. Both amazing eras historically and musically.

my college roommate once told me that if i had been a teenager in the '60s, i would have been cool...

sounds terrible, i know, but he intended it as a compliment, and i can see where he was coming from... many, many of my favorite movies came out in the '60s; i love The Andy Griffith Show and Get Smart and the like; and i'm a huge fan of Elvis and the Beatles and a lot of the other "oldies"... these and other reasons lead me to believe i really would love to have been there... if only i could take some of the technology of today back with me! i can never find a Dolorean when i need one...

btw - how can anyone feel "nostalgic" for the 2000 decade? doesn't something kinda have to be over before you can start feeling nostalgic for it?

I'm sure if I grew up during the 60s, that would be my pick. The decade was just incredible, especially the music and fashion....but my pick goes to the 80's: Thriller, MTV, Ghostbusters, E.T., The Brat Pack, Rainbow Brite(:D), The Empire Strikes Back, Dallas, Madonna...that's pure perfection.

The 70's kick ass in every way.
I have long been profoundly saddened that I wasn't born sooner so I could've been an adult in the 70's.
The 70's is THE age of Rock and Roll.
That was musical perfection.
Chicks were at their hottest in the 70's.
Best television ever.
HANDS. DOWN. the greatest era of film-making. No other opinons on that can stand.
Aesthetics.....I have books on 70's advertising, and a lot of old 70's magazines, and I'll sit in awe....EVERYthing looked so much cooler.

They had manly, square stereos, colcks,....bold, simple, wicked designs....no everything's trying to look like a Nike shoe, all Bio-organic and OOOOhh Fyootcheristik. :o

70's, man.

here's the thing

most of us tend to romanticize other times, specially ones we've never lived in, but if any one of us were to be sent to say, the 60's, I'm quite sure there would be much more complaining about the things we are used to but we wouldn't have at the time, trying to figure out how to get out of there and most importantly, anywhere, except where the good stuff would be

most everyone that voted for the 60's would most likely be at home watching star trek instead of being on their way to san francisco

yet, it all now looks very, very old and dated

That's often the case.
Not in my case though. I was there for almost the entire 70's. The only problem was that I was a little kid, biting my fist as all these honey-golden 70's foxes in Levis cut-offs that went right up to their pelvises gushed over how "cute" I was and then walked off with their bad-ass boyfriends.

And that is the time I wish I could've had a band.
I prefer the old, stodgy system..."start a band, get some shows at local bars, grow a following, send off tapes to record companies, get signed, tour stadiums"
I hate this glut of music, glut of media, every ****** has a voice that he never earned, iPOD, myspace, youtube, bulls***.

80's
Movies:
Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Arc, Temple of Doom, Superman II, The Police Academy Movies

TV:
Voltron, Robotech, Transformers, GI Joe, Thundercats, He-Man
