thread is self-explanatory. discuss.
Captain America, but it's a double-edged sword. I love the Captain, and I see almost unlimited potential in his story and the core lements of that mythos, but I have very little trust in Marvel. They're incredibly hit-or-miss in adapting their own properties to film, and all I've heard about this one makes me believe Captain America will ultimately be relegated to the "miss" pile.
David Self is an okay writer. Road to Perdition was good, but he's nothing special so far. And the actor doesn't bother me, I'm sure, whoever he is, he'll be capable (they've done some solid casting in the past - Maguire, Jackman, Bana, Norton, Downey Jr.). I just don't trust Marvel. Call it a gut feeling; I don't see it working out right now. However, they do seem intent on hiring solid talent (one French director and idiot writer excluded), so that's a plus. What have you heard?
They've got David Self as writer, and he's done a great job with period pieces before.
They're going for an actor based on acting skills, not just based on looks.
There's nothing about what they're saying that to me is making this a "Miss".

Marvel Studios has had a hand in two films so far. One was very good, and got me excited for their future slate of films. The other was not good, and mangled those hopes. I see they're all too willing to sacrifice the most interesting aspects of their key characters for the sake of money.
Especially troubling this this Avengers nightmare bounding over the horizon and driving itself down our throats. I'm wary.
Spider-Man 4.
Haven't had a decent Spidey movie since 2004.
Big deal, there hasnt been a good Superman movie since 1978.
Spider-Man is my favorite comic hero. Always has been. Always will be.
But, mine is The First Avenger: Captain America. Cap is my 2nd favorite comic character, and I have been waiting for a high quality film about him for a while, and with IM and TIH being as good as they were, I have the utmost confidence that Cap's story will be done justice. Not to mention one of the greatest comic rivalries ever (Skull vs. Cap )
I hope it is as epic as I imagine it can be
