At sixteen films in, marathoning the MCU before a new film is starting to become a bit of a challenge. Some go in release order, some go in chronological, I do a mix of both. I've put a lot of thought into it and this is my current view order.

Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Thor
The First Avenger
The Avengers
Guardians of the Galaxy
The Dark World
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
The Winter Soldier
Doctor Strange
Age of Ultron
Ant-Man
Civil War
Homecoming

I watch the movies chronologically by year of release

I guess you just skip The Incredible Hulk and Age of Ultron?

The movies are designed to be watched in release order because they layer teases for later and they have deliberate callbacks that don't work as well in reverse.

Which is why I watch it in order of release dates

I'll just go in release order, but now there are so many of them that I think I'll wait until early next year to do another full rewatch (which I haven't done since before AOU).

Captain America: The First Avenger
Iron Man 1
Iron Man 2
Thor
The Incredible Hulk
The Avengers
Thor: The Dark World
Iron Man 3
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy: vol. 1
Guardians of the Galaxy: vol. 2
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Ant Man
Dr. Strange
Captain America: Civil War
Spider-Man: Homecoming

I actually just forgot to put Ultron, I'll add that.
But yes, I skip Hulk and Iron Man 3.

Sometimes, but not always. For example, Doctor Strange and the first Guardians are very free to move around within the view order. They are basically separate from the rest so far.

I think the first Guardians is designed to be watched first because of the exposition about the Infinity Stones.

Good question. I actually made my own custom order

- Captain America: The First Avenger (movie is a flashback)
- Iron Man
- Iron Man 2 (picks up right where IM left off)
- The Incredible Hulk (we see Tony performing his consulting role)
- Thor (Post credits scene is a lead-in to Avengers)
- The Avengers
- Thor: The Dark World (First scene with Loki is his trial which would make sense to have happened as soon as possible)
- Guardians of the Galaxy (With Thor back on Earth, the cosmos need a new protector, and the Guardians step into that role; with the chaos in space taken care of we head back to Earth)
- Iron Man 3 (Tony has been having anxiety attacks and has built over 30 suits so we can assume it's been awhile since Avengers, but SHIELD hasn't fallen yet)
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier (mid credits scene leads right in to Age of Ultron)
- The Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Ant-Man (Pym's reference to Sokovia and the post credit scene sandwich it between 2 Avengers movies)
- Captain America: Civil War
- Spider-Man: Homecoming (Takes place 2 months after Civil War)
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (Nebula goes to hunt down Thanos at the end suggesting we don't have too long to wait til IW, however...)
- Doctor Strange (...we know Strange leads in to Ragnarok via the mid credits scene and Ragnarok leads into Infinity War)

*Now, I know Gunn has confirmed GOTG 2 takes place shortly after the first one. But he also said that time in the Guardians' galaxy may work different than time in the Earth galaxy. This also accounts for the Stan Lee Civil War reference in GOTG 2 continuity gaffe. I went with that interpretation rather that just slotting GOTG into Phase 2. So in Guardians time, GOTG and GOTG 2 take place right next to each other. However in Earth time, they are spread out.

Plus I think it just makes sense to put the more fantastical and weird films like GOTG, Strange, and Thor before Infinity War, which has a cosmic baddy.

Between now & Thor: Ragnarok, I plan
to watch the movies in a certain order. I'm still trying to figure it out.

I'd prefer to watch them chronologically, rather than by release date.

I think that would work well Manhunter.

Last time I did a MCU marathon in it's entirety was before Age of Ultron. Now I kind of do shorter runs of the specific films leading into the next release.

Before Civil War it was:

The First Avenger
Iron Man
Avengers
Iron Man 3
The Winter Soldier
Age of Ultron

If you haven't watched Cap 1 and Iron Man back to back I highly recommend it.
