I just started buying into the single issues ( I usually wait for the paperbacks). What ongoing titles should I start reading from Marvel.

Wolverine Origins...it's teh best comik evah! :hehe:

^Will I be able to start now and not be confused

you should pick up ultimate origins if you've read any ultimate comic, you should also pick up the limited series of sercret invasion, i would say moon knight as well but you would have to buy the first 3 books then a few single issues, but its my favorite comic

Sorry, I was kidding. Wolverine: Origins is a horrible waste of paper.

On a serious note:

Nova
Guardians of the Galaxy

Both of these are more than worth your hard earned money.

Punisher MAX by Garth Ennis

Start with the Punisher: Born mini, and then start the main Punisher series at #1. Excellent stuff. Just too bad Ennis is concluding it next week. =\

Also, Captain America by Ed Brubaker. You can pick up the omnibus, which collects the first 25 issues.

Immortal iron fist is awesome.Pick up the first couple of trades and go from there. Also Invincible Iron Man just started and it's good.

Brainiaic 8 is right, Guardians and Nova are my two favourite comics from Marvel right now. Get them, now :o

Avengers: The Initiative
Captain America
Captain Britain and MI-13
Guardians of the Galaxy
Immortal Iron Fist
Incredible Hercules
Nova
Thor

Don't buy anything. Stick to the trades. Your wallet will thank you.

They just wanna share the addiction with you. Repent!!!

A lot of the comics mentioned will be a bit confusing when you start reading them. Most mentioned, like Captain America and Daredevil, have a whole lot of backstory to them; and, while they are two of the best comics being put out by Marvel, really will take a while to understand everything that's been happening. Of course, sometimes you just have to jump into the deep end of the pool.

Plus, Guardians of the Galaxy is more enjoyable after you've read Annihilation's second event. Other books, like Incredible Hercules, requires some reading of the last two events, Secret Invasion and World War Hulk.

It's a fun world to explore...and, don't limit yourself to just Marvel comics. There are great things to find that aren't always about superheroes. (Like Walking Dead, Echo, The Sword, and Madame Xanadu.)

The Invincible Iron Man is a relatively new title that is very good. The fourth issue is coming out this week, so it shouldn't be too hard to go back and catch up.

You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. :csad:

I'm not... with a few nit-picky issues aside, this has been some of the best Spider-Man I've read in YEARS!!!

I'm a BIG continuity guy... have been for years, and I've been upset with the way some of my favorite characters (both Marvel's and DC's) have been mishandled over recent years all in the name of "good writer wants to tell HIS/HER story and history/continuity be damned... However, having said that, even with the terrible telling of OMD (the outcome was not such a big deal to me... things happen in comics... why is this any different? the part I didn't like about OMD was the execution (Loki would have been much better to use and was "primed" for it)), I'm willing to give Marvel the benefit of the doubt and the chance to explain to me some of the things that "appear" to have been altered (some are way more obvious than others... like Harry's ressurection).

In the meantime, I'm enjoying the books for what they have to offer... good old-fasioned storytelling... with the hopes that things will get fleshed out in the near future.

Spider-Man's a great character and NOW is a good time to jump on-board....

It's MY opinion and you can disagree with me all you like Corpy, but you don't see ME telling YOU that you read crappy comics (and I KNOW that you do...)

So be a good comic board moderator and let people on said board share their opinions without feeling belittled...

Thanks...

Mike

Wow, someone's sensitive. It was just a joke. Not reading ASM myself is enough for me.

I know... but it's tiring.

Especially at a time when people might want to pick it up and judge for themselves whether it's good or not, yet they probably on't for fear of being ridiculed by "internet peers" that they buy a comic.

I am very aware that there are tons of crappy comics out there, but that's my opinion, because said crappy comics may be enjoyed by other people with different tastes than mine...

And in this delicate day and age where a comic book's shelf life depends on sales figures, I don't see the point in making fun of ANYBODY for reading ANYTHING...

In fact, we should NOT discourage anybody for the books they buy...

Good stories will (for the most part, as far as the Big Two go) dictate good sales, and hopefully, good sales will mean more stories/comics about a variety of characters that we might not normally see in comics...

It's a sensitive issue with me, because I remember being made fun of back in 1982 because all the "cool" comic book kids were reading Frank Miller's DareDevil and I was liking Spider-Man, Batman, Captain America & the Hulk... and reading Batman in the early 80's was not as "cool" as it is nowadays...

I still remember those feelings, and I'd hate to think that I would bestow upon a fellow comic book reader/purchaser those same crappy feelings.

They're not nice...

Anyway... end of TMoB's rant.... :yay:

Have a nice weekend....

Mike

Read the first two volumes of Runaways. No confusion since it's pretty new.

Skaar: Son of Hulk is pretty awesome and it's only two issues in so far.

Incredible Hercules is pretty top-notch as well.

Things might be confusing for almost ANY book at first. Once you start getting into it everything will start to click.

What are your favorite heroes? That's where I would start.
