What was the dumbest thing you saw today?

I was strollin' around my local bookshop earlier today when i spied a copy of Donnie Brasco: My Undercover Life In The Mafia. Joe Pistone's autobiographical account of the years he spent infiltrating the Bonnano crime family for the NYPD.
This was, of course, later adapted into a successful movie with Johnny Depp.

The dumb part?
This was the cover...

Basically, The powers that be have decided that instead of releasing this man's life story with a tasteful cover that bears some relevance to the story inside, they'd rather plaster a black and white head shot of Johnny Depp looking cool and smouldering in a pair of aviators... Why? Because he was in the movie they made of it TWELVE years ago!

Poor Pistone... Goin' through all of that just to be remembered as "the guy who Johnny Depp played once"...

That is dumb.

The dumbest thing I saw today... Well, the dumbest thing I heard... Was a close friend of mine trying to prove that he knew acting more than a female friend of mine, by stating the girl uses, "Stanislavski's style of acting, which isn't as good on film."

For those who never studied theatre, Stanislavski's style is called "the method", or "method acting"... Which a HUGE portion of American film use today.

Nope. But even if he did write a forward, his face shouldn't be on the cover... Beyond playing him in a heavily stylised, modestly successful movie over a decade ago, Depp has nothing to do with Joe Pistone OR the events of the book. Far as i can tell, they just slapped him on the cover to shift units.

Ridiculous.

I do landscaping and there is this guy in our crew who is mildly ******ed , midgetized and has sever scoliosis. I respect that he tries to work hard and even let him think he is the boss , which he does. Today we had to pick up one of those swing sets people have in their lawn . I went to lift it and noticed the swing was detached , so I tried to attach it back . Meanwhile that little a-hole starts yelling at me . I tried to tell him what I was doing but it was to no avail . He fought one of the clips out of my hand and attached it himself. We picked it up and moved on and sadly he walked away convinced he won another battle.
